I can't wait until 2012. Le tthe looting begin! But 2011 will be better - anticipation of 2012, and it's when East Anglia switches to digital and all my arguments about the digital TV in the living room will become reality, when dad will just have to accep that Sky is linked to external source 1 on the telly, not channel 7. |

Do not try and eat the cake, only try and realise the truth.

As will I. Meh. This couldn't happen, it would crash the stock of ISPs. |

I actually read this now and it's ridiculous, by that I mean it's fake. How are just a couple of North American ISPs supposed to get all ISPs to conform to this? |

Good point :0 That kinda supports the 'this is fake' idea. Also, can anyone actually do this? Even if they can block sites, wont they wind up being at the mercy of the army of bored hackers that will find ways around it? |

Probably. ^_^ They can't try to control people like this, so many people will get pissed off and get angry, there'll be many riots, it will fail. :p |

I'd like to add that this is NOT fake. ISPs WILL do this, and it WILL destroy the founding principles of the Internet. I mean heck, Berners-Lee is opposed to it. Hugely opposed. There have been debates in Parliament in which they have concluded that net neutrality is useless and counter-productive :(. The net is currently neutral, but not for long. ISPs WANT this to happen. Also, remember this is the World Wide Web, not the Internet. The Web is on the Internet, but so are all the other protocols, such as IRC or FTP etc. When you use MSN you're using the Internet, not the web... |

So you mean years from now we could be telling 'our' kids that the internet used to be full of sites that anyone could put up and was completely free to people. And they'll have never heard of it? Woah... Is this partly to do with stopping piracy by any chance? |

Stopping piracy will be a pretence most probably. Virgin are already watching what people download, infringing on people. How long before other ISPs do it too. I'm lucky ours is just crap, they don't infringe on our privacy...except that time when they lost everyone's email address >_<... EDIT: No wait, they just got spammed... |

God of tricks and folly!
|
It's about time fat cat media people realised what good piracy actually does for them. Arctic Monkeys got famous because everyone downloaded their stuff mostly illegaly. Amy Winehouse was the same. And, after listening to a number of songs by bands (illegaly downloaded) I feel more compelled to buy albums. Anyways, back to the internets. I agree with whoever said it would crash the ISP stocks, they'd just be shooting themselves in the foot. |

Could be interesting without the internet. Everything would be different. They couldn't anyway. It would result in masssive inflation rates. Society would crumble under the dependancy on the internet. |
