Something seems to have gone horribly wrong as it seems the majority of Londoner have voted for that absolute baffoon <_< Borris Johnson for mayor, I don't realise how anyone could really feasibly vote for him unless for a joke, it's just so annoying being a politician is more about being a celebrity rather than actually being suitable for the job. Not to mention it looks like the BNP has won a seat in the assembly which is something that must never ever happen, they shouldn't be allowed to have any power what so ever, they're too dangerous. |

It wasn't even a majority. He only gained about 100k more votes than Ken. I mean, in the second round yes it was a majority, but because of the way the system works you don't need one in the first round, just a plurality. It's sad, it pretty much removes the last socialist in a high place in Britain from office. But I wonder what really happened here, is it a Conservative victory or a Labour loss? By which I mean, was he elected for his merits or because Labour sucks? I think Ken was certainly tainted by being associated with Labour, even if he is part of the old left. Even sadder that the BNP got into the assembly. But what's more worrying is that with a Conservative mayor AND majority, the Tories can probably do pretty much what they want with London =/... |

Well I don't like Ken anymore than I like Borris but I understand Ken knows what he is doing despite the fact that he is very sleazy and controversial. I doubt the integrity of both of them but as I have a great hatred of the Tories I'd probably go with Ken. I also find it a shame that Brian Paddock gets so overlooked, he maybe inexperienced but unlike the other two I don't doubt his integrity but alas the LIb Dems are too small a party at the moment to make any real impact and since when has integrity seemed to matter in politics. But what looks worse to me it seems like a certainty that David Cameron will be the next Prime Minister and that is something that I don't like at all. |

Ken is a classic socialist, I identify with that. I agree with a lot of his policies. As for David Cameron being next prime minister, what difference will it really make? Labour and the Tories are so similar, and the PM is still answerable to government and Parliament. Also... Posted Image |

It's more a principle that people are going to want to vote for him because of what a celebrity he has made himself and like I said I can't stand the Tory party. It also just annoys me that people are not giving Gordon Browm a chance, many of the problems are outside his control like the credit crunch and the increase in food prices but still peole act as if it's Labours fault and the thing is it's a problem that would remain the same regardless of the party. Plus there's a smuggness I just don't like about David Cameron. |

Do remember though that the economy is in crisis and Gordon Brown was Chancellor of the Exchequer for 10 years prior to this... |

I'm not saying he hasn't made mistakes and I'm not a Gordon fanboy. When I see Gordon Brown I see an uncharasmatic man who is a bit cumbersome and has inheritted a lot of problems and hasn't handled situations very well, that much goes with out saying but I also see someone who has a lot of integrity which doesn't seem to be worth much in politics but what I feel is very important. |
