    Club Nintendo Shutting Down

That's right, Club Nintendo is on it's way out - in all regions! It's not just going to be killed, however - it will be replaced with a NEW loyalty program, the details of which have yet to be announced. Here is Nintendo's info post and FAQ about the whole thing:

    http://club2.nintendo.com/program-notice/

    The Main Point

1/20/2015 - Products released after this date are not eligible for registration with Club Nintendo
3/31/2015 - Last day to earn Coins, register products with Club Nintendo, and sign up for new Club Nintendo membership
6/30/2015 - Last day to redeem Coins or access your account on the Club Nintendo website. Club Nintendo program shuts down at 11:59pm PT on 6/30/2015.

This means that the New Nintendo 3DS and all games released after TODAY (1/20) will not have Club Nintendo PINs. So if you're in need of more coins, you'd better go out and buy stuff that's already out! Everyone stockpile your coins now! Throw everything you have into Club Nintendo, because apparently they will be adding a LOT of downloadable (and some physical) prizes starting in February, to give everyone incentive to spend all of their coins.

In addition, apparently ALL currently registered Club Nintendo members will receive a FREE download code for Flipnote Studio 3D. So, after like 3 years of ZERO word on the status of Flipnote Studio 3D, suddenly BOOM, it's here, and for free? Alright, Nintendo, whatever floats your boat.

Honestly, Club Nintendo had been kind of petering out the past year or so - it has been obvious that they have been putting less emphasis on it, what with the discontinuation of most physical prizes (especially for last year's Elite members!). So I'm really looking foward to seeing what their new loyalty system is all about!

Club Nintendo, it's been a good run. Now let's end it with a bang!

Club Nintendo was a good idea, but I felt the prizes were always, in least in North America, a little lame. I don't have any desire for a Mario pencil case, thanks. On the bright side, I got to try a lot of fun games I wouldn't have otherwise by buying them with coins.

But I'd gladly trade it all for Flipnote Studio 3D! I've been waiting like five years for this game and it's finally here!

So, did you guys ever fill out the surveys seriously or did you just type in whatever?

I always filled out the surveys seriously, for the most part.

FLIPNOTE STUDIO 3D?! This is for North American Club Nintendo users as well, right? Has this been confirmed? How soon will we be getting the download codes?

Yes indeed Brendan, your dream has finally been realized!
Flipnote Studio 3D has been confirmed as a free download for current Club Nintendo members, yes, even those in North America (I'm honestly not sure if this applies OUTSIDE NA). I think they said that the download codes will be sent to members sometime in February.

    @Robo
At first I filled them out seriously, haha... but then it starting taking a long time to do the "free response" questions, so I kinda stopped caring as much.

I filled a few out seriously, but some of them take much longer than what my attention span allows for, so I started throwing in generic responses.

I hope that the program that replaces Club Nintendo is better than the current one.

The rewards are up! There's quite a good selection of Wii U, 3DS and Wii games, and even some retail games! Sadly, the physical prizes are pretty lacking, and we don't get Flipnote Studio until later this week.

Wow, I clicked on that link, looked at two rewards and got kicked out for site maintenance. That sucked! But one of the things I looked at was something I really wanted, which was that cute little Japanese 2015 calendar. I saw it either on the UK Club Nintendo or the Jap one, but I always liked the pictures on it, even though it looks super cheap. I was kinda sad last year when they only offered digital games for gold prizes, because I wanted my yearly calendar.

Edit: Just saw all of the prizes. I have no idea how i'll spend my coins now. We have over a thousand, but there are so many things I want, this isn't fair.

Yea for the most part the rewards were pretty lame, but I really liked the ds/3ds game case I got from club nintendo, holds like 24 games or something crazy like that, although I've since moved on to just buying the digital versions, but it's still pretty useful.

So I've been unable to access Club Nintendo at all for about 3 days.. Is anyone else still getting the "site maintenance" message?

I managed to log on today, and got NES Remix and Wii Party U. Sadly, it doesn't seem many other people have been able to access the site for quite a while...

I got in a few times just being persistent. It works if you just keep refreshing and signing in over and over. We are thinking about getting the Wonderful 101 and Game & Wario.

Holy shit there are some games on there that I want to play! I'm thinking about picking up New Super Mario Bros. 2 or The Wonderful 101. I don't know how many coins I have but I think it's a lot. I don't spend them very often.

You have to be careful, I know every two years the points from that year expire, so if they are old coins and you haven't checked in a while, you could have less than you think. But you can also still register games that have the code for more coins!

I actually had all of my coins still! 850 to be exact. I got New Super Mario Bros. 2 on 3DS and Earthbound on the WiiU.

I was really hoping for a soundtrack or two (Japan got a 3D World soundtrack a year or so ago...), but other than that, there aren't really any physical prizes that I'm willing to spend that many coins on. The jigsaw puzzle looks amazing - I like to work them and frame them - but then I could get two games for the price of that.

I'm thinking maybe like... Metroid II, Golden Sun... I dunno, maybe something super out there like Chibi Robo.
