(Temporarily closed. ...Gwaargh!) *doo wee doo wee doo*

The fact that people still think that Zelda's stories are all about "saving the princess" - even though that idea is only ever a very small part of the story in most modern Zeldas - is telling, I think. Zelda's role as a character has only been growing in recent games (see Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword).

The only recent Zelda in which the majority of the story revolved around "saving Zelda" was Phantom Hourglass (in ALBW, she was just one of many). Skyward Sword was all about "working with Zelda" - only at the VERY end did something bad happen to her. And Spirit Tracks sorta subverts the whole thing - even though you're technically trying to recover Zelda's body, SHE'S actually an invaluable aid to you, almost as if she's saving her self.

So yeah, I'm fine with the direction they've been taking the series' stories, and I don't think it's too fair to say that most Zeldas revolve around "saving the princess"... At the very least, there's always more to it than that.

But whatever, haha, I really don't care what they do :p

I dunno. Zelda was the assistant character in Spirit Tracks, and as cool as that was, I like the whole "Lone Wolf" archtype for Link. Of course, he always has some kind of partner, but unless she had her own mode (which would be bad ass), I'd prefer just Link again.
I actually prefer just having Link as well. I think the Zelda series does the whole "character by them self wandering around the world alone thing" best. The Zelda series does it better than any other game I've played. Even better than ICO and SOTC. Link wandering around Hyrule alone is part of the series. It's one of the things that stands out about the series. Zelda 2 is a perfect example of this and does the whole alone thing best. That game was just too awesome. Link being alone was one of the best things about that game.

Oh whoops, I didn't mean to start a whole debate on this subject! D: But hey, it's a good discussion to have!

@Shroob: Well I mean, sure, recent Zelda games have had Zelda play a bigger part in the plot (like NOT being captured right at the beginning of the game), but really, by the end you're just saving her from the bad guy with a congratulatory kiss or something at the end for a job well done. Obviously it's not as simple as that but I would just like to see something different. Zelda has the potential to be a really awesome character.

@Ice & Pyroll: Sure, Zelda doesn't necessarily have to be a playable character, I would just like to see her as a stronger character who doesn't necessarily have to reply on someone else to save her.

Um...I'm pretty sure Hams Galaxy is just annoyed by the fact that you mentioned the Zelda CDi games, which are pretty infamous. Not because Zelda has had a major role in some of them, but just because the gameplay and cutscenes were pretty bad. I mean, you can play as Zelda in Super Smash Bros and Hyrule Warriors, and I'm pretty sure Hams wouldn't complain about that.

It was a lampoon of the social justice mentality that's been popping up recently.
