Yeah, I love Twilight Princess, but it takes like a fucking HOUR to get the sword! I know that I will have to swing the Wiimote to swing the sword! I can infer the rest throughout the game! People who play puzzle-action games aren't idiots!

Yeah, Aonuma has (recently) publicly said that he realizes that excessive tutorials/hand holding are NOT something that gamers want to experience, and that he'd try not to go crazy with them in future games.

And behold, A Link Between Worlds!

Let's hope that philosophy carries over to Zelda U.

That said... I honestly think it's a little presumptuous for us to assume that everyone knows how to play games like this already. I've actually seen many people struggle with and give up games that they simply couldn't figure out how to pick up and play. Personally, I didn't figure out how L-targeting worked in WW (my first Zelda game) until halfway through! And learning how to fly in Skyward Sword was actually rather difficult, for me - it took me forever to win that Loftwing competition.

I mean, as long as they don't tell us how to swing our swords or silly stuff like that, I'm okay if they feel like they need to tell us the more complicated stuff.

In this situation, I don't see what's wrong with an optional NPC that gives you maybe two speech bubbles telling you what to do, and then a small area where you can practice. For example, you go up to a knight, he tells you "L-TARGET BY PRESSING L M'BOY", and there are some scarecrows nearby that you can practice on. The key is making this area small enough that it's hardly any effort to code, but is easy to skip over for more experienced players.

I think my favorite part about Nintendo games in general is that they always look better when they actually get released. The game looks fantastic now (and in the earlier trailer), but it'll look way better when the release date comes around.

I'm pretty excited to see what Zelda will look like in this title. I mean, look how feminine Link looks there! Zelda's gonna be smokin.

I hope she looks similar to her Twilight Princess incarnation... she was really ugly in Skyward Sword, imo.

Haha, I thought SS was the best Zelda character design so far, but honestly I've never disliked any of the Link or Zelda designs, so it's really whatever. That said, given that they've changed up Link's look, I'd be willing to bet that Zelda looks different, as well.

Although it kinda looks like we're back to a more "traditional" Hyrule, so I guess she could be a regal princess again, too.

Really I just want to know if the "main" villain will be vaguely androgynous or not :o

Let's just hope it's not another "Link saves Zelda" because I'm actually really sick of that. Wouldn't it be cool if you played as both characters? Like, you can switch between them at any point, or like, Zelda helps you during dungeons or something? I mean, Nintendo is never going to get away from Link being the main protagonist, but Zelda playing a more prominent role (other than being captured) would be really refreshing.

Nintendo isn't one to stray from the classic formula too often

Think about it, Super Princess Peach is one of the only Mario games where Mario DOESN'T save the princess.
I guess the Princess wasn't really kidnapped in Super Mario 3D World either, but that rarely happens

I dunno. Zelda was the assistant character in Spirit Tracks, and as cool as that was, I like the whole "Lone Wolf" archtype for Link. Of course, he always has some kind of partner, but unless she had her own mode (which would be bad ass), I'd prefer just Link again.

Oh man... ^That game. I bought Super Princess Peach for my gf a while back because she's all about feminism... I played that hunk of shit for like 30 minutes before giving it to her and realized what a huge mistake I had made in purchasing it.
Not only does it totally blow from a gameplay perspective, but it's also probably the most sexist game I've ever played hahaha. Ohhh man.

I'm with LK though, it would be pretty nice if Nintendo actually put minimal effort into a story for the next Zelda game. Instead of the exact same shit as always but with a new paint job.

On second thought, judging by how efficiently Nintendo has been pissing off feminists on the internet lately, I'd like an uber-femme Zelda designed by Team Ninja who only appears at the end of the game for congratulatory cake and blowjobs.
