Note: I wasn't sure where to put this EXCITING news, since we don't really have a Mario Kart 8 Topic, so I decided to make a new topic entirely. However, if anymore important Mario Kart 8 news pops up, feel free to post it here. Also, consider this the "Mario Kart 8 Discussion" topic, so you can discuss anything else related to Mario Kart 8 HERE. :)

A listing on Nintendo's UK online store revealed that Mario Kart 8 is getting DLC packs which will bring new characters, courses and vehicles to the game.

Two packs were listed, which both contain two entirely new cups with four courses each. It appears that the new courses will include some based around F-Zero, Excitebike and Animal Crossing. In the UK, the packs will retail for Ł7 (approx. $11.60) each.

Here's an official statement taken from the online store listing:

"Each Add On Content pack will contain two new cups, each with four courses, which, in total, increases the number of available courses by 50 percent. The Add On Content packs include classics like Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii, as well as new courses, some taking place in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. New vehicles will also arrive with each pack, including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise in the first AOC pack.

    Mario Kart 8 Pack 1 - Released: November 2014

    Pack 1 includes:

    - 3 Characters: Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Link
    - 4 Vehicles
    - 8 Courses

    Mario Kart 8 Pack 2 - Released: May 2015

    Pack 2 includes:

    - 3 Characters: Villager, Isabelle, Dry Bowser
    - 4 Vehicles
    - 8 Courses

As a bonus for purchasing both packs - as a bundle or separately - you can get eight different-coloured Yoshis and eight different-coloured Shy Guys that can be used right away."

So far, this DLC has only been confirmed for Europe. :/
This DLC has been confirmed for North America as well!

I hope they're hinting at a new F-Zero with this. I really hope so...

    I hate Mario Kart. :(

That's pretty awesome! Villager as a racer is just hilarious, and I'm glad they're expanding passed just Super Mario Bros. characters. 8 new courses in each is pretty wild, too.

    Yeah this is pretty awesome.

I mean, Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach are lame....but they round out that pack with Link...soooo...

Also, kind of weird that they picked Link and not Kirby. Or Falcon. Or Fox.

    Not that I'm complaining.

Yeah, Kirby deserves to be DLC, especially since he was in the announcement trailer for Rosalina and Luma (joining Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS).

Edit: Not that it's surprising, but the DLC has now been confirmed for North America! It will cost $7.99 for each individual pack or $11.99 for the double pack.

(Temporarily closed. ...Gwaargh!) *doo wee doo wee doo*

16 new tracks, 6 new characters, and 8 new karts for only $12.99?

Link pretty much blew my mind, haha, and Isabelle is so adorable it's just not even fair.

With Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach, Mario and Peach now have FOUR versions of themselves in this game (baby, normal, metal/gold, suits). We just need Dr. Mario now to round it all out, lololol
