![]() Yes yes YES - Hoenn confirmed, FOR REAL! I KNEW these would happen soon after X/Y! I just wasn't expecting them to be announced until E3 at the earliest... but I guess Pokemon makes its announcements on its own time, usually. The Press Release: "Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire are a fresh take on Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire... The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world." A "dramatic story"? Does this mean that the story WILL indeed be updated to Pokemon's more somewhat modern, sophisticated plot structures? Or is this just baseless hype? I don't think they would go out of their way to mention the STORY above all other things, for a remake... SO EXCITING EDIT: Here's the official video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywGSON9tNq0 It doesn't reveal anything at all new, but it's cool to see nonetheless. Mega Groudon and Mega Kyogre confirmed? Give us Mega's of pokemon we can actually use, dammit! Oh, also, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I LOVED Ruby and Sapphire. I really, really, really hope they bring back secret hideouts. It'd be really cool if your secret hideouts could be found by players on your friend list, too. I'm pretty excited, to be honest. I believe Nintendo's Financial Report was released today. Kind of explains why we got a rushed, simple trailer instead of a full E3 blow out. Either way, E3 is in about a month, so I'm sure we'll get more details then. |

^ Streetpass secret bases, huh, HUH? OH and since the original games never had a visible night/day cycle, it'll be so cool to see Hoenn with a true night/day cycle! |

I'm sure it will; however, it's worth noting that back when the ORIGINAL R/S games came out, the FireRed and LeafGreen remakes that followed them used a different "art style" than R/S. So while the engine will probably be the same as X/Y, I bet it will look a bit different than X/Y do. So people are talking: Omega: ![]() Alpha (lowercase): ![]() Plus the designs of Kyogre and Groudon (Mega Evolutions? Formes?) seem to incorporate their respective Omega and Alpha-like imagery. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN |

One of my biggest hopes going further with the Pokemon games is that they streamline some of the UI stuff (they started in X/Y but they need to go further with it) and they need to add difficulty options. X/Y was boringly easy to me. |

I think this would be awesome! I'd like to be able to do this. What do they mean, though, when they say "a spectacular new world"? I really want to see what the game actually looks like. That's what's going to determined if I buy it or not. Perhaps it might look a lot better than X/Y. I hope it doesn't just look like Black/White/Black/White 2. Being that the game is a an old top view game.....I guess they could make it like X/Y since X/Y is not FULL 3D. I can't see them remaking a top view rpg into a COMPLETE full 3D game. |

Black2/White2 actually had difficultly options! They raised or lowered the average levels of trainers, as well as added a Pokemon or two to the E4 and gym leaders' teams. (Albeit you could only unlock the difficulties upon beating the game or having a friend give you the options through wireless). That said, I DON'T think simply raising the average trainer level is a good way to add difficulty - that just adds grinding, really. However, increasing the size of the teams of important trainers would be VERY welcome. It's always a little underwhelming to fight some big baddie who only uses 2-3 Pokemon. Anyway, just remember to turn the Exp. Share off and train more than 2 Pokemon total, and it will be at least SOMEWHAT harder than X/Y ;p |

YES. So excited. To me, Hoenn was the last really memorable generation. Like the first three gens of Pokemon are almost perfect and then beginning with gen 4 for whatever reason I started to lose interest I guess. Although these games are old enough now to where it could be nostalgia. Hoenn was just so beautiful and unique. Whenever I think of 3rd gen I think of the tropical and largely aquatic setting. It was fantastic. Plus in that one the default male trainer already had my name. How fucking rad. I remember starting a file thinking the game was psychic or some shit when it recommended that name. Haha. My one big concern is this: I never actually played either Ruby or Saphire. I played the later and apparently more expanded Emerald. My big thing is I've heard that Ruby and Saphire sort of split the story in half with each version only having either Team Aqua or Team Magma, where in Emerald you fought against both. I'm kind of hoping that they use Emerald's more unified version of the story because it doesn't seem very likely that they'll do a remake for Emerald (we never got remakes for Yellow or Crystal) and I'll hate feeling like now I can only experience half of the awesomeness that was the Hoenn region. Also I hope they include Emerald's Battle Frontier. That adds so much to the post game content. |

It actually looks a bit better than X/Y but it's hard to tell because you don't see much in the video. Also, you don't see people in the video. People often look a bit worse in games compared to animals/background, especially in Anime games. I'm glad that it looks similar to X/Y, though, instead of Black/White. I will probably get it since it looks like X/Y. If it looks BETTER than X/Y I will get it, for sure. Edited by Pyroll7, May 11 2014, 04:44 PM.

@Meta: I think it's going to be the same as Ruby and Sapphire with two different stories because each version has a different symbol for each Team (Magma and Aqua), so I imagine that's what they're going for. Honestly, I like that better. |
