I don't know about Game & Watch. They already updated the site with Pac Man, but no G&W. I don't know. Either way it's cool they announced him, but he looks like poop. I'll pass. I'm more than fine playing as ZZS and Toon Link. I was never fond of the crossover characters play styles. Sonic was the purest of unmanageable and weak and Snake was just WTF. So Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac Man are all on my 'least likely to play as' list. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I just want to see everyone's Kirby hat. Like so bad. |

Wait a minute... Kirby and Pacman in the same Super Smash Bros. game? Brawl in the Family creator Matthew Taranto predicted this since 2008!

@LK Wonderful, isn't it? It's just perfect. So! Today, the only thing Nintendo has, according to the Twitch schedule, is a 20-minute "new game demo" at 2:10pm PT, probably to be shown on the Treehouse stream. What is it? They've already Treehouse'd Mario Maker, Splatoon, Miyamoto's new games (except Star Fox :<), Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade X, and Captain Toad. So... unless they'll be repeating the same games (which they'll almost HAVE to do at some point), then our possibilities are: Zelda U (too good to be true?), Yoshi's Wooly World, Bayonetta 2, Kirby Rainbow Curse, Mario Party 10, Sonic Boom, or any of the myriad of eShop titles. Really surprised they didn't announce any Virtual Console this E3. Edited by Togeshroob, Jun 11 2014, 09:51 AM.

Square Enix is going to have a 20-minute demonstration of an "unannounced" game at 12 PM today. Could this be a 3DS/Wii U game? Edit: So right now, Nintendo Treehouse is showing gameplay of Fantasy Life. Soon they are going to show gameplay of eShop games like Guacamelee, Shovel Knight, Swords and Soldiers 2, and Affordable Space Adventures. Edited by Brendan, Jun 11 2014, 11:38 AM.

^ There's still hope! There's still the "new 3DS roundtable" tonight at 6:00pm PT! I mean, it might be a game that was announced already during the Digital Event (like... uh...?), but it seems to be something entirely new. A side-scrolling Metroid could very well happen. I mean what else could it be? Watch it be MM3D, lol. I guess it could be Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. |

That Toad game looked god damn adorable. That was one of the more pleasant surprises in my opinion. Kinda cool that that chode is finally getting his own game. He'll feel more valuable and worthwhile in all those multiplayer spin-off games where I never play as him. So is it entirely out of the question to suspect Toad as a contender for a new Smash character? |

^ No, I'm still confident he's a fighter. It might be like ROB or Wolf in Brawl where you don't know until the game actually comes out. |

I'll wait until all of E3 is over to post my thoughts. But apparently, tonight's new game is an original IP. Which is great for people into that. But I kind of wanted Majora's Mask. Or Metroid.

I think this Project STEAM game will be cool (it's Intelligent Systems, so...) but I'm bummed that there's still not a new Metroid game. Like, how could they not make a 2D Metroid on the 3DS yet? How has that not happened? EDIT: If you guys haven't seen the Smash 4 gameplay demos yet, check it out! Looks sick. Edited by LK, Jun 11 2014, 11:44 PM.

So, now that E3 is pretty much over, here's my thoughts/wrap up; - I liked the Digital Event. I actually liked it a LOT more than I thought I was going to. It was concise, well planned, and delivered (almost) pure game content in a way that I'd wish other companies (and Nintendo previously) would have delivered it. I think Nintendo should stick with these digital events as opposed to conferences. I liked that there was a distinct lack of sale numbers, charts, talk of expansion, etc. Save that stuff for investor meetings. That being said, I think Nintendo spent a little too much time on Yarn Yoshi and Splatoons. I get that they wanted to share their visions for the game, but christ, do it during the Treehouse. If they would've cut 3 minutes off of Splatoons and Yarn Yoshi, and instead showed us some more footage of another game, or even another little cutscene, it would've been good. Overall, not perfect, but probably their most well, thought out delivery they've ever done. - I loved the idea of the Tree House event. Microsoft and Sony pretty much bounced when their conferences were over - there wasn't a need for you to follow them on twitter/twitch/anything, because once they were done, they were done. I like that Nintendo gave 3 days of content vs 1 90 minute content fest. I also really liked the first day of the Tree House, minus the massive Splatoon coverage. However, it was painfully clear that they ran out of games to show, as they kept looping the same games over and over. It's not to say it was bad or anything, but do we really need 2 hours of Fantasy Life? How much Smash Run can you show us? I liked the initial day because I was genuinely interested in all of their content. Not so much the fourth, fifth, and sixth times around. But, it was still pretty awesome that they had a long ass feed up for like what, 6 hours? That's really cool; I love the notion that Nintendo is finally getting a hold of this internet deal. Overall, awesome idea, needed more games. And god, less Audry. I really like her - I love that she went from IGN to Nintendo directly, but god, she talks over people so much. - So, the games! They announced quite a bit off stuff. Not as much as I had hoped for, and not exactly what I had hoped for, but it's rather clear that Nintendo is pretty busy. In particular; --Hyrule Warriors: This game looks about 100000% better than it did when Nintendo first showed it. Like, holy shit. They should've just NOT shown it the first time. It actually looks like a WiiU title, and not a PS2 one. Apart from the visuals, MIDNA! And a motherfucking GORON CAPTAIN. Sold. I can't wait. --Bayonetta 1 AND 2, with Nintendo themed, USEFUL, BUILT IN DLC? Yup, sold. I was wondering why the game was taking them so damn long to finish. Also, I SUPER dig the touch controls. It essentially plays like an iPhone game when you're using the touch screen, which is actually pretty exciting, because it means Alani will get a chance to play it, too! --Sonic Boom - not featured by Nintendo, wtf? Still, it actually looks pretty fun. Not fun like, Nintendo fun, or your favorite game fun, but fun as in "Oh look, the video game version of a TV show made by an okay studio. Oh look, it's actually pretty fun." I still dig Amy's sultry glare, too. --Captain Toad? Did NOT see that coming. To be completely honest, Alani's the one who did those little side missions in 3D World, so I can't say I've had a lot of time with them. But uh, a whole games worth? Reggie confirmed that the game would be a full retail release, and that it was a "full game." I mean, I'll take it, sure, but it seems kind of odd that they'd make something like this a full title. Like, honestly, unless I can use my amiiboo toys and switch out Toad for fucking Samus, there's no way in hell I'm paying $60 for this game. (But I will if I can play as Greninja!) -So, Splatoon. I really like the way it looks! It looks like....a Nintendo shooter. It reminds me heavily of Battalion Wars in terms of control style and camera, which is pretty cool. Nintendo spent WAY too much time talking about this during the Tree House, but it looks like a lot of fun. I'll definitely pick it up. - Mario Maker is a day one purchase. Nintendo said they'd be adding more backdrops, content (enemies, items, etc), and, as long as this isn't a $60 release, I'll be picking it up day 1. - Yoshi's Wooly World looks WAY better than it did when they showed it off the first time. Again, they should've just kept it under wraps. I saw it the first time, puked in my mouth a little, and never looked back. This new game looks GORGEOUS. -Mario vs Donkey Kong - I'm in. I love this series. Just like the Pushmo titles, they're inexpensive, well crafted fun. I'm down. -Xenoblade Chronicles X - apart from the name (wtf), I'm totally down for this title as well. It might not be an immediate purchase for me, if only because 2015 seems pretty crowded as is, but I like the look of it a lot. The character models look...worse? Than earlier shown? But the scenery looks better, and the effects (dat water) look great, so idk what happened? It still looks like a lot of fun, though. -Kirby: Rainbow Curse - looks like fun. I'm not sure if I love the aesthetic, but it does look nice. I didn't play Canvas Curse much, but I did like what I played. If this is more of that, then I'm good. A little confused why it's on the console and not on the 3DS, but either way, it's cool. -Monster Hunter 4: idgaf about Monster Hunter. I never really have. It looks really good; super detailed, visually flooring, and the new game play mechanics look cool. Still wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot stylus. -Devil's Third: Okay so, a few things. What the living FUCK happened. I know this game was in development for a while for the PS3 and 360, and then THQ goes under. So, we assume the game is done with. Then Nintendo picks it up? Wtf? That being said, the initial showing of this game looked absolutely TERRIBLE. That desert area looks like something out of the 360's launch window. Dreadful. But then, I see someone playing Multiplayer, and then the trailer for the game on Nintendo, and...it actually looks pretty fun! Nintendo doesn't let things go unpolished, so hopefully this game pulls a Hyrule Warriors and Wooly World and looks 50 times better at release. I like the concept, but man, it looks pretty bad at the moment. -Miyamoto's Projects: That bastard. Those games looked fun! At first I thought Giant Robot was a joke, but then he said "Giant Robot Sumo" and a light went off in my head. The hands on time that the Tree House spent with it made me pretty interested in it. Same with Project Guard. Miyamoto went on record to say that all of the projects he's working on are interlinked. So....we'll likely be seeing these concepts in the next Starfox game. (Hence the Starfox logo in project guard.) - So, the two huge ones - Smash Bros, and Zelda. - Zelda - jaw dropped once I saw Epona running across the bridge. Absolutely stunning. Yeah, Link looks like a chick, and yeah, I wanted a super realistic Zelda. But that's because I thought the alternative was Wind Waker Zelda. This game looks BAD ASS. - Smash Bros: It's Smash Bros. I'll post more about it in it's own topic, but for now; hint hint, I liked what I saw. - Amiiboo: A funny name for a cool idea. I can't wait to spend paychecks on these little things. We'll have to wait and see just how useful they are, but I like the idea a whole lot. |
