Nintendo of America Selling Wii Remote Rapid Charging Cradle and Rechargeable Battery Set

    Posted Image

Earlier this year, Nintendo stated in an online customer survey it was exploring the possibility of releasing an official Wii Remote Plus fast battery charger to give gamers a bit more juice when playing for prolonged periods.

The company has now decided to release one and Nintendo of America has started selling the official Wii Remote Rapid Charging Cradle and Rechargeable Battery on its online store.

Offering an approximate 13 hours of play time with a 90 minute charge, the set comes with a Wii Remote Rapid Charging Cradle and a Wii Remote Rechargeable Battery Pack, along with an integrated Battery Cover, Wii Remote Jacket, Wii Remote Wrist Strap and an A/C Adapter.

The whole package can be bought for $40.00, with orders from the US and Canada only. The Rapid Charging Cradle and Rechargeable Battery are only available in black. It's important to note that the Wii Remote itself is not included.

With this new rechargeable battery pack people no longer need to have a haul of AA batteries at the ready when playing their favourite Wii and Wii U titles with a Wii Remote.

The Legend Begins in This October's Club Nintendo Rewards

    Posted Image

Club Nintendo offers up Touch Solitaire, The Legend of Zelda, ThruSpace and Super Mario Kart this month.

Touch Solitaire is the game of solitaire, but played using a touch screen. This DSiWare game can be redeemed on the 3DS for 100 coins.

The Legend of Zelda on the NES was the first Zelda game ever made, and is quite well regarded for its influence on gaming as a whole. Playing as the intrepid Link you must recover the eight pieces of the Triforce and save princess Zelda. Check it out on the 3DS for 150 coins.

The WiiWare game ThruSpace is a puzzle game that has you fitting puzzle pieces through walls. The hard part comes when you zoom towards these walls down small tunnels at high speeds. This one is playable on the Wii and Wii Mode on the Wii U for 150 coins.

Super Mario Kart is where the beloved kart racing franchise began. Race with Mario and friends through multiple tracks. Originally released on the SNES, you can play this on the Wii or Wii Mode on the Wii U for 150 coins.

Tommo Refuses to Follow SNK's Neo Geo X Termination Demand

    Posted Image

On October 7, 2013, SNK had retracted its license and demanded an end to the manufacturing and sale of the Neo Geo X, a portable version of the iconic '90s console. Many people thought that'd be the end of the matter, as the IP holder had issued a rather blunt demand — lesson learned, never underestimate the power of contracts and lawyers sharpening pencils. Basically, Tommo has rejected the termination demand — men and women with briefcases are no doubt preparing for battle.

As a reminder, SNK issued the following statement to half production and sale of the Neo Geo X and related products.

"In order to protect our intellectual property rights such as 'NEOGEO' and 'SNK', decisive measures will be taken against all unapproved NEOGEO X products not subject to the License Agreement."

Tommo, for its part, has fought back and stated that its license runs until 2016.

"Tommo has performed all of its obligations under its license agreement with SNK and is disappointed by SNK's sudden and unjustified termination of the agreement.

Tommo has demanded that SNK retract its press release and any attempts to terminate the license agreement.

We're continuing to sell Neo Geo X products, including the Neo Geo X Gold System, Arcade Stick, Mega Pack Volume 1 and Classics Volumes 1-5. The license agreement which allows Tommo to sell and market these products remains in effect."

Blaze, the distributor of these products in Europe, has unsurprisingly supported Tommo's stance, issuing the following statement to Eurogamer:

"Blaze will continue to market and sell all the Neo Geo X Product range and fully support all end users, retailers and distributors in the territories we are responsible for."

Nintendo UK Launches Online Retail Store

    Posted Image

Nintendo UK launched an online store on October 9, 2013 that offers a large range of games, consoles and some gift ideas. It's an intriguing move by the regional team, offering its own online store of physical products alongside conventional retailers. The stock is primarily focused on products developed, published or distributed by Nintendo, with few examples that are entirely third-party.

There's a fairly broad range on offer, from the current-day Wii U and 3DS consoles and some related bundles, to the Wii Mini — but not the traditional Wii model — and pre-orders for the rather attractive Legend of Zelda strategy guide set. Prices are typically what we'd consider to be the full recommended price in the UK, though Nintendo's official stance is that retailers set their own prices. The store is short on promotional offers, with the possible exception of the ability to pre-order a limited edition Pokémon X & Y 3DS XL with a copy of either game for a discounted price of Ł199.99, a Ł20 saving. Certain products, particularly those that have a higher profile or price, also come with free next day delivery.

While Nintendo UK has forged positive partnerships with retailers such as GAME and, most recently, Tesco, the move to launch its own online retail store makes clear that it wants to miss no opportunities to reach customers. It's still a first, however, and this store is far more current and up to date than its Nintendo of America equivalent, selling the company's most important products; equivalents for other European countries don't appear to be live as yet, either.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut Will Cost $20 More On Wii U Than On PS3 And 360

    Posted Image

When Square Enix announced Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut for the Wii U, everyone was pretty happy about getting to play a past classic with enhanced GamePad functions.

However, when the news broke that this "exclusive" version was also coming to the PS3 and 360, some Wii U owners felt slightly short-changed.

That negative feeling is only set to get worse, as Square Enix has now confirmed that the Wii U version of the game will cost $49.99, while the PS3 and 360 editions will be priced at $29.99.

Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic Gets Cooking On the 3DS eShop in North America

    Posted Image

Occasionally Nintendo doesn't include all details in its weekly download updates for each region, and this week there's an extra treat awaiting North America gamers. Nearly two years after its retail release, Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic is available on the 3DS eShop in North America; it's priced at $19.99.

A series that came to prominence on the DS family of systems, in particular, and serves up various touch-based mini-games to prepare food. The absence of the 3DS entry on the eShop has been slightly puzzling as a demo was available worldwide when it launched in 2011, yet it seemed to fall off the radar when Nintendo began selling retail games on the eShop in August 2012. The series will be continuing on the 3DS, too, with Cooking Mama 5 in development for a Winter release in Japan.

Pikachu Starring in New Pokémon Game

    Posted Image

Development on a new Pokémon game, featuring Pikachu, began this summer, according to The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara.

The Pokémon franchise’s most iconic character has had a few starring roles in the past in titles, such as Pokémon Yellow Version and Hey You, Pikachu, and we’re long past due for another. Since Ishihara has expressed some concern that Pikachu’s fame might be damaged if the company doesn’t produce a good title, fans hopefully have something to look forward to.

No details on an anticipated release date or platform have surfaced yet, but the producer did shed some light on the story, describing it as being about a boy using “playfulness” to take on the world.
