In your quote it doesn't say that Nintendo didn't plan to show the artwork to the public. I read at the time that Nintendo had prepared that artwork specifically for the fans and that they were going to show it to the public. And yes it was leaked before they actually showed it to the public but I'm pretty sure they were going to show it to the public before the leak. Also, with Kojima's quote: When he says "I am tired of taking care of people who do not have the passion" doesn't he mean fellow staff? Saying that working with highly motivated individuals (who have passion making games) is the only way forward? He's basically tired of working with people who don't have that passion? I thought that I read this quote before but worded better. Also, you say that Nintendo's games have been better than ever...I don't agree with that. I think Mario 64 is better than the Galaxies and all of the older Zelda games are better than TP, SS etc. Edited by Pyroll7, Jun 14 2013, 07:46 PM.

Nintendo said they planned to show the first artwork, as well as a trailer for the game the following year - 2010. The artwork shown was intended for those at the round table only - if not, it would've been shown to the public before hand, or even after - not several hours after the leak. It's rare for anyone, including Nintendo, to release a massive resolution piece of "leaked" artwork. Nintendo used the term "leaked" - it wouldn't have been a "leak" if it was going to be shown a few moments later to the public.
Dunno - but Meta's right - Kojima is one self hating pessimistic. He's gone on record to say multiple times that he thinks the eastern market is dying, that video games are a dying breed - etc. It might be due to his personal lot, but who knows. But he works under Konami at his own studio - Konami's been doing well and making good games, so I've no idea where all his negativity comes from.
Well that's a matter of personal opinion, but it's hardly a reason to say that they're "losing their passion." Whether or not you believe it, in every regard technically, Nintendo's made better games more recently than they have in the past - better looking games, longer games, more well received games. And they're taking longer on their games than they have in the past - Skyward Sword had the longest Zelda development time, and that's saying something, seeing how long TP took. That's the definition of passion in the video game world, for better, or for worse. |

I still stand by the fact that I read multiple times that the artwork was for the fans because we saw nothing of a new Zelda game for so long, which makes sense considering that SS was so long in development. "Nintendo used the term "leaked" - it wouldn't have been a "leak" if it was going to be shown a few moments later to the public." This is just saying it was leaked because it was leaked first, so technically it was leaked. But it was still going to be shown to the public. "Nintendo said they planned to show the first artwork, as well as a trailer for the game the following year - 2010." That was their plan at first but they had decided to show the artwork. Kinda like how they weren't going to show Zelda Wii U at E3 but then they were going to because development is moving fast, they're ahead. However, Nintendo then decided not to show Zelda Wii U. "it would've been shown to the public before hand, or even after - not several hours after the leak" Several hours doesn't mean anything. I wouldn't expect them to show it immediately right after. Uhh...well I guess that's one way to look at it, but I don't see why any company would ever do that - especially not when doing a roundtable - that doesn't make much sense, at all. Either way - it still doesn't change..really anything. Everything shroob said is still true - the art was leaked, the team has loads of passion, and the development time was much longer than anything else. |
