They probably did that for comedic reasons, but I think the boxart would look cooler if it just showed the name of the game, rather than showing that they edited the title.

I don't even care for the wiiu game I just play it with my brother once in a blue moon when he wants and when my brothers girlfriend son (he is not the father) comes over. But like, who is buying it that doesn't already have New Super Mario Bros U? The retail version makes sense for people without internet connection. Personally, I still buy physical copies of console games because 5-10 gig downloads takes too long and strains our limit, but for smaller consoles like the 3DS and Vita I definitely would rather download games (and do download them whenever possible). The extra $10 is dumb, though.

For the end user though, it does kind of suck. Either way, I bought the original via download, so I'll stick to download. But I want the physical copy ; ;

There are people out there who would like to play Luigi U but haven't bought NSMBU yet. Those people can spend 10 bucks more and skip out on the original. Also, it is good for people who can't afford a $60 Wii U title. Buying Luigi U physically is half as cheap as NSMBU. Not to mention the people who don't have an Internet connection or one consistent enough to download a game that big. I think it was a cool decision on their part because optionally they could have just not offered it physically and everyone would be forced to download it online. But this way they give you options and some people who otherwise wouldn't have bought the DLC, now can.
