Yeah, I can't imagine them announcing anything new here. This is probably just to get all the mundane, we-have-to-talk-about-this-because-it's-coming-out-soon stuff out of the way before their big, epic pre-E3 news blowout :o They wouldn't want to steal any thunder from their big show coming up in JUST HALF A MONTH OMIGOSHOMIGOSH |

So we just finished watching the Nintendo Direct and they announced two new sonic games! a new Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic games and Sonic Lost World. Too bad they didn't show any footage for Lost World. But they also talked about Animal Crossing, Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Ages, Donkey Kong Country 3D, Mario and Donkey Kong: Mini's on the Move, Pikmin 3 (coming out in August!!!). And the other announcement was about the Wii U Resident Evil: Revelations which now has a demo on the Wii U Eshop. |

^ Wow - Sonic games announced via Nintendo Direct? Including one that has nothing to do with Nintendo characters? That's pretty awesome! I wonder what in the world "Lost World" is... it conjures up images of Jurassic Park - dinosaurs and what not. I won't have time to watch it for a while - so what exactly DID they say about Lost World, and the Oracle games? |

Pretty much they said they were going to talk about Lost World more around E3. For the Oracle games they announced both games will be discounted to $4.99 until June 20th. |

What about bringing E3 to 100 Best Buy Stores? Oh god, am I willing to wait in line for an hour in order to get some play time with new games? Probably if one of those games is Wind Waker. Other than that though, nothing really appealed to me getting a Wii U before the Launch of WW. That DID look like the best Olympics game they've put out though, and Resident Evil sure looked pretty. I'm really excited to have an HD Nintendo system. |

BUMMER Direct is more like it... Get it? Bummer? Never mind. Anyways I'm not excited about any the games announced today. New Super Luigi U could be OK but other than that, meh. |

I dunno - Nintendo has a pretty stellar outcome with Sonic titles - Rush, Rush 2, Advance 1, 2, 3, Colors/DS, all have high ratings, while the Mario/Sonic titles have pretty average ones. Even Secret Rings has a decent score - and none of those were published by Nintendo (with the exception of Mario/Sonic, which was published by Nintendo in Japan.) And even then, a 72/76 isn't anything to scoff at. So I'm pretty optimistic. I wonder what the Third title will be - the first is the new Mario/Sonic title, and the second is Lost World. I wonder if we'll get another story book title, or if it'll be something similar to Colors. |

Let's see... Last Nintendo Direct was on April 17. This month's Nintendo Direct was on May 17. I'm starting to notice a pattern here... |

You know, I had it all planned to play two of my favorite games - EarthBound and The Wind Waker - over this summer and have just an amazing summer game experience, but then Nintendo just had to go and be all awesome and remake WW and rerelease EarthBound. Anyhow, yeah, I kinda figured that this Direct wouldn't be too much - just getting stuff out of the way for the REAL Directs at E3 time ;D EDIT ZOMG just saw the Pikmin 3 screens and such they showed off. Gorgeous! Edited by Togeshroob, May 17 2013, 07:00 PM.

I think it's great that Super Luigi U will be released as a retail copy as well. EDIT: I hear the retail one doesn't require you to have New Super Mario Bros. U where the DLC does. Edited by Pyroll7, May 17 2013, 08:06 PM.

That sounds likely - I think the download version uses the actual game. I remember seeing the mode available on the screen on one of those Nintendo Directs - Iwata clicked a button, and the screen jumped up from normal mode to Super Luigi U mode. You wouldn't be able to do that in a stand alone version - not without some kind of internal Wii U transition. |
