Yeah so, Nintendo isn't going to have a press conference at this year's E3 because they want to focus more on their Nintendo Direct events for announcing forthcoming games. Weeeeeird. http://kotaku.com/nintendo-wont-be-having-an-e3-press-conference-this-ye-480309870 |

Nintendo Direct >>>>>> E3 press conference I will gladly take the bi-monthly (???) Directs filled with all kinds of wonderful announcements/info/trailers/etc over a once-a-year, give-or-take E3 any day. This E3 wasn't good for you as a fan? TOO BAD. Wait 'till next year and probably get disappointed again. Nintendo Direct is much more often, giving us only a month or two to pine in unbearable waiting for new details on our favorite games. Each Direct is basically a mini-E3! Most importantly, everyone knows that E3 is for the stock-holders primarily (why else would they spend so much time on Kinect and party games and nifty tech?). Nintendo Direct, while there's certainly an aspect of stock-holder pleasing involved, is as the name implies much more personal - straight from the horse's mouth to the fans' insatiable, gaping maws. That said, I'm a bit disappointed because this will be the first E3 that I'm actually able to watch LIVE in a few years... and now I have little personal reason to watch! I'm interested in what the other companies do, but... you know. EDIT Oh, well, after looking into it a bit, Nintendo will BE at E3, they simply won't be holding a huge conference on the scale of MicroSony. They'll hold some closed sessions for marketers and developers, and then they're going to show off some new games and demos and whatnot. Here's still hoping that they keep their word about Smash Bros showing up! Edited by Togeshroob, Apr 24 2013, 10:36 PM.

I was kind of hoping that they would announce a special WiiU bundle at this year's E3... Other than that, its kind of a relief. It's annoying for me to watch E3 because I only care about specific Nintendo games and that's about it. Scrolling through the other companies and all the BS 'Babiez' shit sometimes gets tedious because the videos never work right. And I enjoy Nintendo Direct.

I think this is a bad idea for Nintendo. E3 is much more broad than Nintendo Directs. Many outlets like USA Today aren't going to report on what Nintendo announced at a random Nintendo Direct, but they'll gladly be there at E3. Nintendo Direct's are targeted to a very specific group of Nintendo fans, therefor they don't get the media attention like press conferences do at E3. Plus, what are shareholders going to think of this after Nintendo has struggled getting the Wii U to sale, well, anything all year long? |

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/04/24/nintendo-will-not-hold-a-large-scale-e3-presentation-this-year/ It says in this article (in the last paragraph) that Nintendo will show the new Smash Bros., a new Mario Kart and the 3D Mario for the Wii U. Edited by Pyroll7, Apr 25 2013, 07:59 PM.

I'm confused. Will Nintendo still have a conference (i don't care if it's not an hour long) for E3? What I'm asking is if they will post a "conference" on YouTube about E3, like they do every year. (every year after E3 they show a recording of their conference) Please reply.

Pretty much, they are not going to be having a big hour long conference, but they will still be releasing information about upcoming games. |

I don't know what's really that confusing about it but no, Nintendo will not be having a conference at E3. They are, however, still going to be there showing off upcoming games to the press. They will probably showcase new games during another Nintendo Direct right around E3, if I were to guess. |

Well they aren't doing the their typical conference - they are still holding two conferences in the Nokia theatre, apparently. But it's not the hour long one we are all used too. I dunno how I feel about this. I do like the Nintendo Directs, and game for game, we do get more title unveils and information from them, but I like the hour long conferences. It's Nintendo, you know? I guess it's because we're used to it, but I feel all of the console devs should have one. I know EA does one too, which I always thought was stupid, but at least the console makers. I don't know. |

EA and Ubisoft both hold conferences at E3, yeah. It's weird. |

I can kind of understand why they'd each get one, but to be fair, I think that there are a few other studios that should get their own - if not for quality of games, simply for quantity and size - it's the reason EA and Ubisoft get their own, after all. I Just hope this choice doesn't result in a lack luster E3. |
