Nappin' my way to victory.

I want either evolutions or pre-evolutions for Zangoose and Seviper. I like both of them, but they don't have the stats behind them to be fully useable on a team. |

Strong Pokemon, weak Pokemon; that is only the selfish perception of things. Truly skilled trainers win using their favorites. ![]() Thank you, Joe, for the awesome signature! The YouTube Collab Playthrough channel that I participate in - The Bit Buds! | |

Now HERE'S an interesting theory. Xerneas and Yveltal are quite possibly based on Norse mythology. Read the theory here, it won't take too long - http://www.kimikogaming.net/pokemon-x-and-y-yggdrasil-myth-points-towards-pokemon-z-and-a-legendary-dragon/ It all makes so much sense! I think the nail in the coffin was the colors in Xerneas' horns - red, blue, yellow, and purple. There's just too much here for it to be a coincidence, IMO. The third legend being a serpent of some kind makes a lot of sense, as well - I'd like to see any OTHER kind of animal contort itself into a Z-shape ;o |

Both Seviper and Zangoose can be used quite well in Mid-Tier competitive play, and that's without EV training. Immunity on Zangoose is pretty much one of the best things ever, as Toxic and Toxic Spikes are typically what deal the bulk of the damage in that tier. Not only that, but with the proper boosts, Zangoose can be pretty scary. I haven't had too much experience using Seviper, but I know he can be pretty terrifying on a Poison/Accuracy team. Only thing worse than being poisoned is being poisoned and missing your attacks. |

Oh, I skipped right over evolution - I thought ya'll said pre-evolution only. Yeah, evolutions would be pretty awesome. |

I was thinking the same thing when thinking of a Z version, what kind of animal they could twist into a damn, fucking Z. But yes.....a serpent. Edited by Pyroll7, Jan 14 2013, 09:07 PM.

Did I read somewhere that Nintendo said the three starters will be pure types or am I just making that up? |

^ Yeah, the official mini-site shows that the starters themselves are pure-type. It's no surprise - every starter but Bulbasaur has been pure-typed. It indicates nothing about their evos, so no worries! |

I totally agree. In my opinion antler pokemon and real animals with antlers look really awkward and not at all visually appealing. But god it's a tradeoff... I can either suck it up and get the cooler sounding "X" version and deal with that ugly creature on the front cover, or I can get the one with the cooler legendary and when asked, just tell people "I'm playing Pokemon" and not a single letter more. Pokemon X sounds cool. X is a cool letter. That's why so many things use X in the name. Pokemon Y just sounds like I'm questioning the franchise. Pokemon, why?? |

NEW BATTLE MECHANIC CONFIRMED http://pokebeach.com/2013/01/junichi-masuda-writes-about-pokemon-x-and-y So it seems as if the mentioning of "bonding" and "growing more powerful" or whatever from the original reveal trailer actually DID hint at a new bonding battle mechanic! It seems that friendship will actually have a practical, functional application outside of simply evolving a handful of Pokemon! From a metagame standpoint, I am VERY interesting in seeing how this plays out. Really, in a series like Pokemon that puts so much focus on the ins and outs of the relationship between Trainer and Pokemon, this is a move that makes a whole lotta sense. |

That "bond" was present in the other games - the moves Frustration and Return worked directly on how much your pokemon liked you or not. Though this definitely seems more than that, it is worth noting. Also, Meta, I'm not talking about all pokemon based on animals - I mean specifically deer. They just look dumb. Real Deer also look dumb. |

^ Oh, well yeah. I didn't think of those at the time. This indeed does seem to be more than that. I'm trying to think of the practical ways it can possibly be implemented, and all I can come up with is stuff with stats - which I guess is pretty reasonable. Perhaps bonding will increase base stats? Base power of certain moves? Maybe the effect will be type specific? Who knows! You know, one of the major points of B/W 2 was that Pokemon are brought to their fullest potential through their bonds with trainers, that by working together and respecting one another and growing closer, both Pokemon and Trainer are capable of their full potential. It's VERY fitting that this new mechanic should come in, now. btw, if one of y'all gets the time, could you add a poll? Just a choice between the three starters, I guess - I'm curious as to who we all prefer. |

I'll put it up now. As for new things involving this mechanic...I don't know. I don't imagine it'll be game breaking - what with the metagame play and all, but I'm sure it'll be just one more thing we'll all get hooked on fine tuning. |
