    WAT
Apparently EarthBound was finally put on the North American and European Virtual Consoles several days ago - last Thursday! Where was I, exactly...? It just came out of nowhere!

They have this super cool website for it too! Check out that snazzy new intro video! Talk about awesome! Interestingly enough, the rating has been upped, citing such things as suggestive themes and mild blood, which... I think is really stretching it for a game like this, but whatever! It's better than having that stuff cut out, anyway!

And the legendary player's guide has been digitized, and apparently you can get a version of it on your Wii U!

MUST GO BUY AS SOON AS I WAKE UP

Since I have the cartridge AND the player's guide, I guess I'll... keep them? I don't think I should sell them :\

I'm not that big a fan of Earthbound, but if this release goes over well enough, I might finally be able to purchase an official translation of Mother 3! HOO BOY

The player's guide just isn't the same without scratch and sniff, though...

Heh, it's funny you say that, because in the Nintendo Direct Mini a few days ago in which this release was announced (it's at the end if you're watching), Bill Trinen actually references them. He says that he's disappointed they didn't have the technology to digitize the scratch n' sniff cards... yet ;p

AND YOU ARE SPOT ON SIR

This is just the first step - and biggest hurdle - towards the rest of the series coming over legally as well!

I don't think we have to worry about EarthBound not doing well on the VC. It's apparently the second best-selling title right now, behind only Donkey Kong. Considering Donkey Kong is literally only 30 cents a pop right now, I think that's understandable ;p

I've never been able to get far in Earthbound. I always get stuck relatively early. Granted, I haven't tried in years, and this supports save states so just maybe..

I did, however, LOVE Mother 3. So there's that.

Yeah, not only is EarthBound a whole 'nother ball game than Mother 3, it's also pretty difficult early on. If you can get past the first couple areas, though, the difficulty eases A LOT until later in the game. I really recommend trying it out! Just try to ignore some of the hype and play it like you would any other game ;o
