Has anyone seen this Gametrailers Zelda timeline video? Watch it here. It's pretty interesting and informative. I'm really excited to see what the next Zelda game will be placed now that there's an official timeline. I'm guessing the next Zelda game will be on the 3DS next year. What are your thoughts? |

As cool as timelines are and whatnot, Zelda games have always been like cartoons to me, you know the Villain, you know the hero, and you know the princess! and each game is like it's own world. |

There's an E3 rumor list floating around that lists Zelda 3DS out for next year. |

^ I'm just extremely interested where they'll take it. Skyward Sword was a new direction with a new design philosophy, but it was met with mixed reactions. The previous handheld games were also met with mixed reactions. They're bound to do even more re-thinking than they did with SS. Not to mention that starting next year, things are really going to shake up in Nintendo (for the better) - jobs are being rearranged, new facilities opening up, new partnerships made. Like, did y'all hear that Miyamoto is stepping down from his creative overseer position? Yeah, he's going to go back to making games, albeit smaller ones with a small band of followers, which is awesome news IMO. He's been wanting to do this for a long time! But yeah, he won't be involved in Zelda and Mario anymore, which is crazy. So it will definitely be interesting to see what comes from the series re-thinking and Miyamoto's lack of involvement... for better or for worse! |

I think the video is really good, it looked amazing. I'm interested to see where they put the next game in terms of timeline now that we have an official one. |

Really? All I've heard people say about that game is that it's amazing. I only know one other person besides myself who doesn't like it |

Yeah I can see a new Zelda game being released next year on the 3DS, for sure. I'm excited to see what it is and where it will fit into the timeline. I really hope it's not a DS-style game, though. They were good games but I want a fully 3D game. |

I finally got 40 minutes to devote to that video. Wow. That was pretty cool. I'd seen the timeline before, but it was awesome to get all the ties explained and holes filled. The Fallen Hero timeline makes me sad

K I finally watched it too. First: Holy shit, it's really well done. The images and the music are great. The timeline makes me proud to be a Zelda fan. The franchise just kind of exploded into this really in depth concept of another world. It's not just about playing a game, you become part of the culture and the history by being a fan. I can't wait to get the historia when it comes out! BTW, anyone going to get the deluxe version? I'm debating. Edited by Liongirl, Dec 3 2012, 03:37 PM.

^ Is the deluxe version even available anymore? @Hunter Yeah, SS was pretty mixed, from both fans and non-fans. Most people will at least acknowledge SOME good in it, but there are a lot of people out there who don't like what it is or what it represents for the series. |

So he won't have anything to do with Zelda or Mario anymore? So what games would he be making, new games? I don't know if I should see this as a good thing or a bad thing. In a way it might be a good thing if he has nothing to do with the main Mario and Zelda games anymore. I'd like it if Zelda was a little less.....kiddie. I don't mean it has to be rated Mature though....I don't know. I just didn't like the direction Miyamoto went in general with the Gamecube and after. Nintendo is just overly kid friendly now. ALTTP is still a game for kids but it still had badass music and didn't seem overly kid friendly, Majora's Mask was a bit dark etc. Skyward Sword and the DS games were just........I don't like them. Also, this Zelda 3DS game might not be a new Zelda game, it could be a remake of any sort, Majora's Mask, ALTTP, any really. At one time they wanted to remake ALTTP as a 3D game like Ocarina Of time. I'm pretty sure there was an interview somewhere where Eiji Aonuma said that they would develop a completely brand new Zelda game on the 3DS before remaking another game. I bet this Zelda-B team (the ones responsible for the DS Zelda games) are making a 3DS game while GREZZO have been working on Majora's Mask 3D. I'll eat my hat if this isn't true. |

Likely. I don't know - I'd like to see a FourSwords style game made on the 3DS with online play and voice support. I think the WiiU is a great fit for that style of play, too. Here's hoping we get Majora's Mask 3D AND a new title, though. |

I find it interesting that the fallen hero timeline is the timeline with the most games. You just wouldn't think that the timeline where Link dies and fails would have the most games. I don't really know why people had doubted that there was a timeline. Whenever a game was released you were told where the game took place in the timeline. Zelda 2 the instruction booklet said it takes place after the first game. ALTTP it said on the back of the box that it was a prequel to the first game. Link's Awakening, I think it was in the instruction booklet where it was said it came after ALTTP, I honestly can't remember now but when that game was released it was confirmed to come after ALTTP. When Ocarina Of Time was released we were told it came before all of the other games and Majora's Mask took place right after. (I can't remember exactly how I knew anymore, internet or magazine.) TP as well we were told, Windwaker we knew as well, PH and ST as well and we were also told that Minish Cap took place before OOT and................we were told that Skyward Sword came before both Minish Cap and OOT, before all of the games. The only games that we didn't know were like Four Swords and the Oracle games? But basically what I'm getting at is, why did people believe that there was no timeline? Even though we had some missing pieces with the timeline there was still a timeline. Again, I don't get why people didn't believe that there was a timeline when with almost every games release we were told roughly where it took place in the timeline. I always knew there was a timeline. Also, I'd rather see a 3D remake of a ALTTP before a remake of Majora's Mask. Majora's Mask's remake would be like OOT's remake where it's not really a remake but ALTTP in 3D would be a full out remake, it would be awesome. Edited by Pyroll7, Dec 4 2012, 09:03 PM.
