The Pokemon company has recently announced that it will be bringing a new Pokedex for iOS devices (i think its only in Japan ) on Friday, November 16. It will cost 170 yen ($2) and will show all the Pokemon in the Unova Region. You will be able to download Pokemon data from the other regions for 500 yen ($6) for each region. This is more of a promotional app (to promote the Pokemon games), so don't worry about Game Freak deciding to quit making games for Nintendo systems and start working on apps or something like that. That would never happen (at least I hope so). There is a 75% possibility that this Pokedex app will come to North America, considering that there are many Pokefans in the USA.

I don't think we'll see the app outside of Japan - the first Pokedex app didn't leave Japan either. As for the games - Nintendo holds most of the lisence and publishing rights to the series - GF is still owned by Nintendo. Nintendi has said they'll be expanding their reach into the mobile and PC world for Wii U and 3DS access, so this can be seen as one of the ways. Still, thise prices are insane. |

Yeah no kidding, these are some really high prices just to see a Pokedex. I would understand $2 for the full Pokedex, but $2 plus $6 for all the other regions? Thats $26 bucks total! (Great math skills, I know.) It's way too pricey, but definitely a cool idea. Would rather use Serebii though. |
