Wait, so... You hated Super Mario Galaxy 2 because Nintendo claimed it would be much harder, yet you never even attempted the hard parts of the game? What, I don't... Huh?
When a company says a game is going to be much harder than its predecessor, I expect them to mean the entire game as a whole, not the little bonus levels you unlock after you beat the game.

This is one thing I don't really like about NSMB, DS one or Wii one. They look very much a like. Super Mario bros. 3 looked a lot different from Mario 1 and 2, (Japanese and NA one), and Super Mario World looked a lot different from those ones but at the same time they still seemed like Mario games, unlike Sunshine and maybe Mario 2 NA.

I know that there are new power ups in NSMB games, and that's different, but still...

I don't know, I just always see the NSMB games as a mix of other Mario games. What I really want is a true Super Mario Bros. 4. I don't know, with new different type of backgrounds, like different style, again Mario World is different from Mario 3 etc.

Mario 3D land is epic though, I love that game so much.

lol, I remember when I was a kid, sometime after SMB3 was released, sitting in front of the TV, only caring about the commercials and not the show I was watching, waiting for a SMB4 commercial.

    It never happened.

Well I guess I'm a little late to the party, but oh well. I think it looks fun enough, I'll probably pick it up eventually, though I'm not the least bit hyped over it. I enjoyed the first one and the wii version despite never finishing it. My number one biggest complaint with these games however is the title. "New" Super Mario Bros.. I'm aware Nintendo isn't known for their especially creative titles but that's so tacky. I just can't help but think how dumb that will look 20 years from now when it's old as shit.

Also I totally agree with LK, I was never able to shake the feeling that NSMB Wii was a portable game despite staring at a tv screen with a wiimote in my hands. It just didn't feel like a console game. That might just be because I've become so spoiled by Mario Galaxy and the likes, or maybe it's because NSMB Wii looks and feels almost exactly like the ds version. It wasn't bad or anything though.

Personally I would love to see a Mario Galaxy 3 in place of this, either on Wii or 3ds.

Oh comeonnnnnnnnnnnn. 2D Mario games feel like CONSOLE games to me. They should be on a CONSOLE.

Also, I agree with the "New" in the title. I thought it was only a temporary name at first. I guess it's better then just calling it Super Mario Bros..... like that PS3/360 Sonic game that is just called "Sonic The Hedgehog" like the Genesis ones. The Ninja Gaiden games as well.

    Causes confusion.

I really enjoyed both New Super Mario Bros and New Super Mario Bros Wii. I can understand how LK feels, but I think the multiplayer aspect of it is what made it feel like a console title to me - I have 2 younger brothers, and it was the perfect title to play. I suppose if you play games by yourself, I could totally see that. But I've never played it by myself - it feels at home on the big screen.

That being said, this game needs to support some kind of connectivity with NSMBU. That'd be so bad ass.

Also! I'm playing this game on mute. The fucking coin sound will forever haunt me in my dreams.

Yeah this game seems weird to me. It's almost like Nintendo executives were sitting down at a table and one dude said, "how about... MORE coins?" and then they laughed and laughed and now the dude has been promoted.

I think NSMB2 changed much on its level, gold system make more challenge on collecting coin. Although I don't like the first NSMB because it's too easy to beat it, but I will expect the second one.

I bought it on the DS when it came out in 2006.
And again on the wii a few years ago.
Owning three copies of the same game would be a bit redundant though.

My brother got it for his birthday. It's actually a shit ton of fun. I haven't played Mario 3D Land, or New Super Mario Bros in a long time though, so it might just be me. I'm more excited for the Wii U version, but I would buy this one when it hits $20 or so.
