    It's a thing:

I liked the first one on the DS so I'm excited for this. I would've rather had a Super Mario 3D Land 2 but oh well I guess.

I'm glad it's on the 3DS rather than the Wii U. I didn't really like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It felt like a handheld game on a console.

I'm hoping they create another 3d-Land as well. That game was REALLY fun...back on topic though.

Good news here, as the first was pretty good.

    Oh, NSMB. Nice.

OMG THIS GAME WILL BE AMAZING

The ultimate selling point for me would be the incorporation of a map filled with secrets and alternate paths, a la Mario Bros 3 and Mario World.

(That said, I think Mario 3D Land is absolutely amazing. I'm just sayin'.)

    It felt like a what?!

Mario bros. Wii felt like a handheld game?! The original 2D Mario games were on a console.

How can anybody say a 2D Mario game feels like a handheld game.

It was basically New Super Mario Bros. that was on the DS, only it was on the Wii. There's no reason why that game could not have been done on the DS. The entire time it felt like I was playing a high res'd handheld game. I think you misunderstood what I was saying.

I'm not that interested. I thought the original New Super Mario Bros. was way too easy. I can beat it in about 45 minutes.

I haven't really liked any Mario games that have come out since NSMB, besides Galaxy and the Mario Kart games. I absolutely hated Galaxy 2, because Nintendo kept saying how it was going to be much more difficult than the original Galaxy and it turned out to be one of the easiest games I ever played.

Really! And how far, exactly, did you play into Galaxy 2? Galaxy 2 required much, much more player skill than Galaxy 1 did - regardless of how many lives lost.

I got the first 120 stars, didn't work on the other ones though. Is it a lot more difficult to get those other 122?

Haha, yes, OH yes. Get on that, you!

I can totally see your point of view, though - getting through the main portion of the game actually is a piece of cake, for the most part. Like the final battle, a battle that epic deserves much more difficulty. But it's in the second half of the game - the Green Stars - where Nintendo's statement of upped difficulty comes into play. They wanted to make the main part accessible to everyone, you know the drill.

That said, regardless of how many lives you actually lose to the Green Stars, it's hard to deny that it takes a great deal of skill and control to complete that challenge. Especially... the end... *glazed look of remembering something horrifying*

So it's basically like 3D Land- one of the easiest games ever for the first half, gets harder during second half but I'm not motivated enough to even play the game ever again.

Maybe once I'm done with the games I'm playing now, I'll work on that. I'll just have to find my copy of Galaxy 2. I don't really know where it went...

Wait, so... You hated Super Mario Galaxy 2 because Nintendo claimed it would be much harder, yet you never even attempted the hard parts of the game? What, I don't... Huh?

I agree that NSMB is one of the easiest games ever, that is for sure.

Mario Galaxy 2 for me was pretty easy, the harder stars were like a normal difficulty for me, but at least it wasn't down right easy like NSMB. I can see Mario Galaxy 2, some of the stars, being hard for some gamers, but NSMB, if I was a noob to games or a child NSMB would still be too easy. But anyways, try the harder stars in Galaxy 2, do The Perfect Run star, you may not be saying the game is easy when getting that star.

On topic, I don't know if I'll get the game but it might look nice using the 3D, it'd be cool to see a 2D Mario game with the 3D. Sometimes I think a 2D game might look better than a 3D game using the 3D, I don't know. Sometimes with the 3D things don't really pop out much, maybe I can't see the 3D as well as other people and sometimes when I have it at max it just looks weird and... bad.

@LK: I think it was on Wii because of the co-op. I think the co-op could only be done with the Wii.

I know why it was on the Wii, but the game will never stop feeling like a DS game to me.
