Well it's rare in the sense that you can only buy the game from Gamestop. If you live somewhere that doesn't have a Gamestop/EB Games then yes, the game would be pretty rare. You can still buy it from their website I guess but yeah, only one store carries the game.

Most jrpgs are actually rare in that sense. You often can't buy jrpgs in a Walmart or Zellers. Unless it's Final Fantasy or Pokemon. You usually have to get them from EB/GS or online. Xenoblade I guess one can only get from the official store when buying online though.

Does anybody have any tips for gem crafting? I'm just combining ether tubes and materials blindly right now. So far, I've created two rank II ether gems. Is that fairly good, because I have no idea?

Well try to work on focusing on two or one gem. Also use people that have a strong Affinity with each other.

I ran through the game with Gems that I found. The crafting process doesn't really kick in strong until about the second act, where the material you find is actually useful.

I just achieved the 4 star affinity rating for Colony 9. Only one more star to go. I'm not sure if there will be anymore sidequests in Colony 9, after I've achieved the 5 star affinity rating. I guess it's possible, but I really don't see what point there would be. I'll check just to make sure, but I believe I'll be heading to Colony 6 very soon.

Sorry about the double post guys. I just thought maybe I should revive this thread, so we're not spamming the, "What Have You Been Playing?," thread with our Xenoblade Chronicles' conversations. This is a pretty lengthy JRPG, and I'm sure we'll all still be playing it for a good while to come. Some of us may even begin a, "New Game +," play through in the future.

Nathaniel Fletcher, there are a great variety of monsters to do battle with, but the main antagonists are the Mechons. Which are a variety of somewhat intelligent robots.

Can anybody inform me as to how far I'm able to advance the story, before I'll loose any timed or regular sidequests in Colony 9, Tephra Cave or the refugee camp on the Bionis' Leg?

Sorry for the double post guys. It's impossible not to, when nobody is actually utilizing this thread for the intended purposes I created it for. I'm sure everyone has read my last message by now, and so my question won't receive any attention. Unless this thread has been bumped in this forum.

For the refugee camp, it's until you set up Colony 6.

kjhg53, I was just informed about that on another gaming forum I frequent. You may have heard of it... NintendoLife? I guess you're given the chance to finish any sidequests at the refugee camp, before you help migrate the villagers back to Colony 6. Which I'll definitely be doing. I'll acquire a 5 star affinity rating in Colony 6 a lot quicker, by doing every sidequest available at the refugee camp. Plus, I'll gain a lot more experience and maybe some powerful or rare armor and gems as well. I've almost completed 100 sidequests, so far. I'm challenging myself to complete every sidequest in the game. Well, except for one that I'm unable to accept anymore. I answered Dionysis' question, so that he and Jan will have a positive affinity with each other. Instead of receiving a sidequest from Jan later on. I just finished making my way through the majority of the Central Pit in the Ether Mine, but I saved my game at the last lift. I had enough of exploring that boring ass mine. Although, the Central Pit's design is somewhat interesting. I just didn't feel like running into the boss and battling it. I have a little micro-management I need to do, before I proceed any further. I've been informed that the Ether Mine's boss can be a tricky battle, and a certain technique is needed to defeat it.
