I have been thinking that Nintendo should re-establish the yoshi series from where Yoshi's Story (1997) left off. I feel that it was a very enjoyable, creative, original and overall fun game to play. It was also quite challenging at times, which is important in the RPG/Platformer genre. What would you guys here at the n-forums think of a Yoshi re-vamp? A feature game on the wii? I was always interested to see how a 3D Yoshi free-roaming platformer might feel. For those who've played Super Mario 64 DS, we already know how it'd work mechanically, which is not too far off from the classic Mario platformer. However, I feel they should pick-up from the direction they had going with Yoshi's Story. No references to Mario or Princess Peach, but just the Yoshi in thier own world with thier own problems. I think it'd make for a very good feature game that might turn out as something comparable to the Paper Mario Series, if done correctly. Thoughts?

I'd be all for it. Yoshi's Story was a great game. If they kept an art style like that and left Mario and the rest of his crew out of the picture I think it could be really enjoyable. If they could bring also back the N64 open-world 3D platformer feel then I would be absolutely sold.

If they did that, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I'm not sure what they would really do with it though... I'd love to see it though, I love Yoshi games, and I loved Yoshi's Story.

Eh, Yoshi's Island is more than enough for me. Other than the charm/music/artstyle (all of which are equally awesome in Yoshi's Island), I never saw the appeal in Yoshi's Story. But Yoshi's Island is a totally different story (hurrhurr get it?)

However, as for 3D platforming? Sure, I'd love to see Yoshi-type mechanics fleshed out on a 3D plane.

Yoshi really deserves a 3D game, think about the possibilities, like:

    -shooting eggs at enemies
    -Super Mario Galaxye-esque gameplay
    -numerous of fun mini-games

    and much much more!

I would love it. I personally found Yoshi's Island on the SNES as one of my favorite games from that era. Similar for Yoshi Story. Although, I didn't like how kiddish and baby like they made the Yoshis sound in Yoshi Story. Other than that, it was very fun. And the music was awesome. Though way too easy.

And what should the new game be? How about like... a Nintendo style battle game between the Yoshis and the Baby Bowsers. I see real potential for an awesome game there, as long as they don't make it like a shooter. Almost war like, but with the fun goofiness that Nintendo brings to their games. It would be a big step in putting Yoshi back into the spot light, and perhaps bringing some fans to the Baby Bowsers. No, I am not talking about Peach and Bowser's bastard son in Sun Shine, I'm talking about the other Baby Bowsers you hardly see any more. Like the ones littering Mario Party 3.
It would be an epic conflict of innocent childish good and... ugly evil but not evil. xD

Edit: And Ironicly, I'm the Yoshi rank.

I actually really like that about Yoshi's Story. It makes me feel like a little kid when I'm playing it (and yes I am taking nostalgia into account). It just makes everything feel that much simpler and innocent. I do agree that they could bump up the difficulty though.

I'm not too into the war-like premise, but bringing that version of Baby Bowser back? Heck yes.

Not exactly war like CoD style stuff... It's more... simple than that. It's hard for me to think of a comperison.

Yeah! Yoshi in his own 3D series...I loved Super Mario Sunshine! I wouldn't mind having a little something more...
now that I think about it....Ever Since Wii came about or so, they haven't focused games toward non main Characters, I remember when they had games all about Yoshi, Like Yoshi's Cookie,
Or Yoshi's Story, Now a days they just play major roles in one big title.

I have played Yoshi's Island DS, so I would expect Nintendo to make a Yoshi's Island 3D. But I kinda want Yoshi to have his own series BESIDES Yoshi's island, and yeah, continuing Yoshi's story would be cool! :3

I really loved Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story visual style. It was unique, colorful, and it was really bright. I think that a sequel for the 3DS, sprinkled with a light 3D effect (as Yoshi's Story was a pop up book, after all) would be a great addition to an awesome series.

Personally it would be great to see, but it's up to Nintendo to see if it might pull the numbers or not.

I just hope they do so we don't have another Operation Rainfall. I'm all for the cause, but Nintendo should listen to their fans a bit more.

Not that I would play it, but what about a Yoshi like version of those pet sims? Like Nintendogs or such, but with a Yoshi twist.
