So, supposedly Pokemon Black & White 2 will still be on the original DS and will be a direct sequel to Black & White. That's not necessarily a bad thing but why the fuck are these games on the 3DS?

Yeah, I saw this a little earlier. This is a first for the handheld series, so I'm actually pretty interested. The pokemon games all run into each other, but this is a direct sequel, which is pretty interesting.

Wait... so are these essentially Pokemon Gray? Or what? If they are, what does this mean for 3DS main series Pokemon? I suppose there's still the 3rd gen remakes...

And I knew Kyurem had some type of original Reshiram/Zekrom fusion thing! This (these?) must be the single entity dragon that the game says split into Reshy and Zek... or something. Kyurem is an extremely interesting Pokemon, actually, in terms of what we know of its story. Considering B/W's story took on an unprecedented drive and focus, B/W2's story better be good.

EDIT - Apparently they're "White Kyurem" and "Black Kyurem." Both forms will be featured in the upcoming movie, so I assume both forms will play into both games stories? Maybe? Actually, I can't really see that happening - otherwise they'd only make one game, like usual.

That's really weird for a series that's typically so predictable. I'll probably check it out.
Boy Pokemon has really got some funky stuff planned out what with that crossover game and now this.. I wonder if this means they're finally aware that they're dry on ideas.

In all honesty, I really like this approach. Black/White has the best story in terms of, you know, stories, so continuing it is cool in my opinion. Along with the SW crossover coming up - I really like the direction Pokemon is going. Here's hoping for a fully fledged Pokemon Stadium 3 on the 3DS with Wifi!

This is pretty weird for them to make a sequel instead of creating a new generation/area, but I'd prefer this instead of having them add another 50+ Pokemon. Hopefully the next Pokemon games stray from their usual formula and there's more than one possible path in the story/choices (each choice you pick changes the story and everything that can happen).

For those of you who have played Black/White, how was it? I didn't buy either one of them because the Pokemon didn't really appeal to me. Is it worth getting, and how does it compare to the others?

    Don't you agree, Zach?

Yeah, I saw this yesterday. Interesting that they decided to go the sequel route. Now I'm really starting to feel behind though since I haven't played Black/White yet.

WOAH... a direct sequel?! Sounds pretty cool. Then again, the ending was kinda abrupt. But anyways, sounds pretty cool, at first I thought this was fake. :P But does it have any new features, or a new story? Otherwise, looks pretty cool. :3 I'm really interested to see more of this. If you find anything else, please show us!! :D

^No, there will be no new Pokemon, except for the two forms of Kyurem. It's exactely what it is: A sequel. :3 I'm excited to see more about it soon!

No offense to Pokemon fans, but this just seems like a cop out because they have officially run out of ideas for new Pokemon.
The biggest seller for the series for me was the new Pokemon you got from every new generation of games. The story was always sort of the same with a bad group of jackoffs trying to mess with shit and you going through and saving the world/beating the elite four. I mean it varies but i haven't played a Pokemon game for the story.
What made me want to play through generally the same game over and over was being able to have new Pokemon with new and interesting ways to mix my team up. Now i didn't play black or white, but if i did, i would hardly be interested in the new ones if they had no new Pokemon.
Just as when i played older ones and they made a third addon to the series, i would never play it.

And they have been running low on Pokemon ideas for a while now, honestly.

    Always tl;dr

I think it's an improvement. Because usually when they come out with the third pokemon game in the series, it's pretty much the same anyway. The same pokemon and all. So in this case, at least we get more story.

I'm on the complete opposite side - there's always been shitty designs and great designs - Mr. Mime/Jynx in the first series, for example. While it's true the odd design rate is slightly higher as the seasons go on, there's still some fucking awesome designs, like Wargle and Tortuga. Black and White definitely had the best story in terms of actual content, so making a sequel makes sense to me, as opposed to make a third game with a rehashed story with a different mascot.

The appeal of Pokemon is still there - it's still one of the most complex, if not THE most complex strategy games out there. I can't think of anything that has as many strategic possibilities as pokemon - and with every game and every new mechanic added, it just gets deeper. There aren't many people who play the games for their stories, but for those that do, they'll enjoy this. For those that enjoy the battle mechanics and the sheer variety of battle's, then this will appeal as well.

One thing I've never understood, is do you guys play the new games to experience the new pokemon and then after you've finished delete your file or be rid of the game? I always get the new games mostly to continue striving for my ultimate team. I seriously have some pokemon in my soul silver that I've been working on since like the 5th grade on my fire red and emerald.

I think it's a nice change of pace. And at least this game will give me some place to dump all the Pokemon I want to keep if I ever plan on replaying Pokemon Black.
