And then I played BioShock. I feel like people will porbably lash out because of the System Shockness and that fact that I played about five years too late, but my god that games was amazing. With BioShock Infinite coming out, I haven't been this pumped for a game in a long time. Since Mother 3 to be precise, and we all know how that worked out.

I agree. BioShock is one of the best games I've ever played. The atmosphere of Rapture, the methodical ways you could attempt each and ever situation, the pretty awesome narrative. Blew me away when I first played it and the game still blows me away today.

BioShock Infinite looks amazing, too. I can't wait for it.

Bioshock was one of my favorite games of all time. The atmosphere, the ideology, and the refreshingly different world... that being said Bioshock 2 was unnecessary, and felt more like a Bioshock 1 expansion pack.

Is it worth playing? It's $14 at my closest store, and it looks alright.

If you loved the first one its worth playing through the second, but in the end they added very little new content. Other than a new main character, some bigger (but honestly not stronger) weapons, and some new larger enemies it basically just more levels of Bioshock 1. I wasn't very surprised when I learned that a different team made it.

The good news is, the reason the original team couldn't make it was because they had already began Bioshock Infinite, so that one should be a bit more true to this up-and-coming franchise.

I liked the aesthetic style of the game, but I found aiming to be loose (like a weight had been tied to the end of the barrel) and the lack of ammo annoying. For a shooter, I'd say that about 80% of the time I was using melee attacks just to conserve ammunition.

Exactly how things happened to me. I never played shooters because I didn't feel like the story was very strong in them. Thankfully BioShock proved me wrong.

As for BioShock 2, I think it's worth playing just to expand upon the world of Rapture (environment, audio diaries, the history, that sort of stuff). Like M said though it's kind of like an expansion. It's still enjoyable, just not nearly as good as the first.

Foremost is the chromatic substance accomplishment to Picklegod! Pickle contributes to all parts of the forum, stays astir, and mostly is awful to everyone he meets. A wonderful, intelligent somebody, Pickle testament now better us with every day NF decisions. Approval Picklgod!

I still think BioShock 2 was a good game. It wasn't anywhere near as good as the original but it was still fun. It got a bit tedious since it felt like I was playing a 6-hour expansion pack to a 2007 game. It wasn't a step forward—just a lateral step. But like I said before it was still a fun romp. The DLC pack called Minerva's Den was great, though. Better than the main BioShock 2 campaign in my honest opinion.

@Katz: Yeah the shooting wasn't BioShock's strong point. But honestly, I never found it to be a hinderance like other people did. I could completely understand how someone would find it unenjoyable, though. The ammunition (or the lack thereof) didn't hinder my experience, either. I liked it, in fact.

I'm waiting for it to be $5 on Steam again. Definitely on my 'must play' list.

True that. I was wrenching the hell out of splicers left and right just so I can save all my ammo for Big Daddies.

I can honestly say that every now and again I take a true interest in this game. I've just never had the actual time to pick it up and play it.

Perhaps now is the time to try =P

Well, the game doesn't hold up extremely well as other games do, but if you can get the PC version with a better frame rate and sharper controls than you might be good. The Xbox 360 version looks a little dated last time I saw it. I actually haven't played it for a very long time, though.
