My local Target is selling it at only $15 now, and I was wondering if this game is as good as everyone says it is. |

Yes! Yes! YES!!!! ![]() If you're someone who likes to explore in games, this game will be amazing to you. The main character is also completely customizable in terms of strengths, abilities, weapons, class and so on because, well, that main character is you. It's an RPG, basically, and your character levels up by collecting 'souls.' A lot of people say that it's difficult, and it is, honestly. You just need a lot of patience and a calm head. When you die in the game, you have to start at the beginning of the level and you also lose all the souls you had at the point. But, they remain there by a 'blood stain' and you can get them back. It's a bit hard to explain. But anyway, this game is amazing. It's beautiful and a lot of fun and getting it for 15 is a steal.

I've never been a fan of super-difficult games like Contra and Ninja Gaiden. I've watched and read a good amount on Demon's Souls and everything about it sounds awesome. But then I hear about someone getting to the boss of a dungeon, dying, then having to do the entire dungeon over again without all of their souls and half of their health. That's not appealing to me. I'm not saying games are automatically worse when they're hard, I just like to keep my controllers unbroken. |

I completely understand. If it wasn't for me being on medication, I probably would have thrown my Playstation out the window when I played this game.

I'd say go for it. It's one of the few games that will kick your ass and will make you want more, in my opinion. I was going to get it as part of the "buy one, get one free" deal Amazon had going on, as my brother sold his copy a while back. I will say this, though - block. A lot. |

It's actually by FromSoftware and JAPAN Studio (Sony Japan) - Atlus just published the title in the United States. Still, there are very few games Atlus publishes that aren't homeruns, and I've yet to play a bad Atlus developed game, so go for it. |

I was turned off by Demon Souls because people say it's so hard. I'm good at Jrpgs, but not Western ones. Demon Souls is Japanese but it plays like a Western rpg. I like hard games, but I suck at Western rpgs for some reason. I even sucked at Mass Effect. |

That's weird because Mass Effect is primarily a shooter and you beat Uncharted 2 on the hardest difficulty setting. I couldn't even imagine trying to beat Uncharted like that. I had a lot of frustrating moments on freakin' normal let alone insane (or whatever it's called). |

It's not the shooting part that bothers me, it's the rpg part. I guess I'm too used to how jrpgs are set up. I really don't know. I think my biggest problem was that I couldn't read anything in Mass Effect. The writing is so small. It's insane. EDIT: When I played Borderlands, everything was just a mess. The menus, how it all was set up, it was so unorganized and again the writing is so small. RPGS you nead to read menus a lot. Edited by Pyroll7, Jul 11 2011, 11:08 AM.

Definitely know how that feels. I played through Gears of War on my old tube TV (22 inch.) Fucking IMPOSSIBLE to see what they were saying. But Demon's Souls is definitely worth a look into. It's definitely a western take on the standard JRPG, but it has an insane difficulty that gets harder as you lose, which makes actually winning that much more satisfying. And the whole "Bloodstain" idea is really cool, too. |

Does Demon Souls have really small writing? That's the good thing about JRPGS, they always have bigger writing. Except for Star Ocean 4, I dreaded talking to towns people. But because I played Star Ocean 3 before it and many Tales Of games before it, which are very similar, it didn't matter as much if I couldn't read the menus. Plus I think the menus were in bigger writing. Even playing Tales Of Graces F in Japanese wasn't as bad because it's set up like every other Tales of games. I don't know Japanese. But I still know a great game when I see one, Mass Effect is a great game and I enjoyed it anyways. It's not the games fault I couldn't read anything, It's my fault for having an old TV. @opening: Demon Souls does look like a great game. If the game is only 15 dollars, that's pretty good. If you don't mind a hard game, go for it. Edited by Pyroll7, Jul 11 2011, 12:49 PM.

Yeah, Demon's Souls has a minimal amount of writing. You have only a few NPCs around to talk to throughout the whole game and the story isn't too complex. (But, from what I think, the game was supposed to be longer due to there being another land you can't go to, but maybe it just didn't make the cut). Really, the game just focuses on you and what you do with your character, rather than what kinds of people are around you. |

I know a good way to fix that: buy an HDTV. They're not that expensive anymore. I see decent ones all the time that are $500 or less. It's about time to do it, games are aging and your TV isn't. I heard that Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts had the same problem with tiny text and that was way back in 2008. I think it's time to take the plunge, Pyroll.
