I was thinking about this the other day while playing through Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. What is the best game trilogy of all time? I thought about it for a while and I tried to come up with as many trilogies as I could: - God of War Trilogy (God of War, God of War II, God of War III) - Halo Trilogy (Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3) - Jak Trilogy (Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak 3) - Mario & Luigi Trilogy (Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story) - Metroid Prime Trilogy (Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption) - Prince of Persia Trilogy (Persia of Persia: Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones) - Rock Band Trilogy (Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Rock Band 3) - Super Mario Bros. Trilogy (Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3) - Super Smash Bros. Trilogy (Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl) - Warcraft Trilogy (Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos) Can you think of any more video game trilogies? Which trilogy do you think is the best? |

Eh, I'm completely torn between the Super Mario Bros. and Mario and Luigi trilogy. Though Smash Bros. is a close second. And i fucking loved Jack 2, but the others, not so much. And for all of those other trilogies, i have played only one or two of each, so i can't say they are my favorites. |

It's pretty hard to think of trilogies in the strictest sense, since few publishers are willing to stop milking a franchise after only three titles. |

^ That. I mean, a lot of those titles still have titles that come after them. (Reach, the slew of Super Mario titles, etc.) And, I'm a bit torn on how to consider the titles, as well - I like the Super Mario Bros. Trilogy the best, for example, but I think Metroid Prime: Trilogy is the best Trilogy because it's simply the best deal, price and content wise. |

MotherMotherMOTHER It is the only correct answer. And also a true trilogy. Other trilogies are - Professor Layton (Curious Village, Diabolical Box, Unwound Future) Professor Layton (Spector's Flute, Mask of Miracle, TBA) Donkey Kong Country 1-3 (not counting Returns, hopefully that'll have its own trilogy some day ;D) Fallout 1-3 Pikmin (3 is coming) Mass Effect (3 is coming) Paper Mario (#1, TTYD, SPM) Golden Sun (#1, Lost Age, Dark Dawn) Fable 1-3 Layton is listed twice because each are separate story archs, set in different times, with different characters and such. So they should both count as distinct trilogies. Those are the ones off the top of my head. But there are some I thought of that are questionable... For instance, do you consider the Four Sword games (FS, FSA, Minish Cap) in the Zelda series a trilogy? Edited by Togeshroob, May 16 2011, 09:16 PM.

Well i would vote Paper Mario as my overall favorite, but technically, due to the fact that the next game is coming out sometime this year, i don't really count it. And Fallout isn't a trilogy, just because New Vegas wasn't named Fallout 4 doesn't exempt it from the series. And i can't believe i forgot about Donkey Kong Country. Donkey Kong Land is also one. And while i don't like the series, i believe Uncharted is about to become a trilogy. |

^ Oh yeah, it completely slipped my mind that New Paper Mario's coming. And that's one of my most anticipated games! And I dunno, I saw New Vegas as a kind of spin off, since it takes place in the Fallout 3 world. |

Basically, everything that Togeshroob said, though I'm not familiar with Mass Effect, Golden Sun, or Fable. Mother is at the tippy top of my list then Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton. Super Smash Brothers is also up there. :1 |

By the way, can we consider the three Grand Theft Auto games on the PS2 (3, Vice City and San Andreas) on this list despite the now-massive number of GTA titles? Because GTA3 and its PS2 successors were all brilliant, brilliant games. I was awestruck by GTA3 when it came out, even though I was a fan of GTA since the beginning. (Not to denigrate IV, which I consider to be the finest of the entire lot in terms of writing and gameplay, although I miss the pizzazz of Vice City. )

I was thinking about the PS2 Grand Theft Auto Trilogy but I don't really see it as a normal trilogy. If you want to count it I don't see the problem since all three games are very good. I also didn't mention Mass Effect, Gears of War, or Uncharted because they might finish soon, sure, but the third games aren't out yet. Also, Sly 4 has been recently announced so it's not really a trilogy anymore. |

Holy shit, I just remembered the three Streets of Rage games. They were fantastic, with Streets of Rage 2 being the best of the lot. |
