Hey, so I'm pretty confused. First they release some concept art for a new zelda game that's supposed to come out a little while after Twilight princess comes out (in the awesome twilight princess style) and instead, a few years later they release information about a game called "Skyward Sword" Even though they clearly referenced the fact that in the concept art Link doesn't have a sword and the trailer shows a bright and vibrant hybrid of the Windwaker style, the Twilight Princess style, and Watercolor paintings (not that I'm really complaining) So I'm just really confused about what they're doing with all this. Do you think these are going to be two separate games? What do you guys think? |

My 3DS Friend Code is 4425 - 1467 - 7632 Add me, I have no friends with a 3DS and it'd be cool to have someone to play with. I'll also add my Wii code sooner or later. I'm not on much. | |

Skyward Sword in the next game coming out. That's it. Nothing else that we are really aware of. |

No, we know quite a bit. Well, compared to pre-E3 2010 anyway. First of all, the art style has been specifically said to be influenced by Impressionist painters, which is wonderfully obvious in the game's graphics, particularly with distance effects. At the very beginning, yes, the style was going to be similar to TP, but thanks to Miyamoto's love for Impressionism and the fact that they never like to do the same thing twice in a row, SS's style was born. And that's a good thing, too; the Wii isn't too much more powerful than the GC. If they'd used the same style, it'd just look like an updated TP... not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but I appreciate variation! The most important thing about the game, as I assume you know, is that it uses the Wii Motion Plus for accurate motion tracking, translating your Wiimote swings into Link's sword swings (to a degree, of course). This is not merely a tacked on element; many gameplay concepts, puzzles, fights, and such are specifically developed to take advantage of free sword control. Tons of other little interesting things can be gleaned from this new gameplay trailer shown at GDC this March, especially the game's apparant Eastern influence - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKUn5ESdK4s Some other things to keep in mind in terms of development - They've analzyed TP mistakes, thought about what makes Zelda traditionally Zelda ('back to the basics,' they said), and are making the game accordingly. They've said they made TP too big - as in, it was too big to properly fill with lots of content. So in that respect, the scope of SS will likely be smaller, but it will be crammed with details and things to do; a wonderful trade-off if you ask me. I can get you the interviews for this, if you want. Oh! And just within the past couple of months they said that they're near finished with it! So we can expect a release later this year (most likely Fall or Winter). And it's gonna have orchestrated music. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Edited by Togeshroob, Apr 19 2011, 08:34 PM.
