FUCK YEAH. A remake/port of Devil Survivor for the 3DS, and now a sequel? YES. I'm fucking stoked. Edited by IceCatraz, Mar 23 2011, 10:59 AM.

What is this series like? Is a lot of the game done through menus? Not much walking around? |

The first one is all menu based - it's like Final Fantasy Tactics/Advance - there's no walking around. (Though you can definitely choose where to go, who to meet, etc) It goes from fusing demons, to a tactics-like grid, and then once you actually engage an enemy, it goes to the SMT classical first person battle. I'm not sure how this one is going to be, though. Devil Survivor was definitely more about story than anything else, but the gameplay isn't bad by any means. The big thing about Devil Survivor, though, is the clock. Everything you do takes time - from going to meet someone, to doing a battle. The game WILL advance, even if you're not strong enough, so you need to constantly balance everything out. There's...6 different endings, I think, and each one is awesome. Not too sure about this one, but from the screenshots, it looks like the game flow is the same, but there are more characters, more "Persona" like art and styling, etc. If you're not a fan of the old school SMT games, you might not like this series, but I love it. |

A while ago. 2009, I think? They're remaking it/enhance porting it to the 3DS, so if you plan on buying a 3DS, then I'd wait off. The remake has about 10 hours extra content, including an all new day (8 instead of 7, which is HUGE), and more demons for ally's, amongst other things. (Like a huge visual upgrade.) If not, go for it. Easily one of the best stories in the SMT series, and that's saying A LOT - each title in the SMT series has a fantastic story. This one shook my core though, and when you realize some of the connections, you'll be mind=blown. |

I'm kinda excited about two, but as with any sequel to a great game, also sorta hesitant. Mostly because I grew attached to the characters. It was like they became part of my life, no matter what path I took I felt some kind of attachment to all of them. They were kind of like a big disfunctional family to me. Another thing is they better not have changed the game play style and mechanics too much. I want it to be familiar, with a few improvements here and there. That said, the guy in the military clothes with the white hair and eyes reminds me off someone... Hmmm... |
