Is this FPS vs every other genre? Because I like a hell of a lot more games from every other genre. |

Not only this, but by classic/puzzle do you mean retro? Because the Zelda series is classified as Action-Adventure now. Either way though, FPS is my least favorite genre, so it'd be the other one regardless. |

Nothing wrong with it. Plenty people hate sports games/puzzle games/point and click. Actually I hate point and click, fuck those games. |

FPS can mean a lot. You've got the war games like CoD (as you said), more story-based games like BioShock, and games that fit into other genres better but are/can be played as FPSs like Fallout 3. Likewise, the term "classic/puzzle" can also mean different things. Your two examples (Mario and Zelda) differ greatly themselves. I guess what I'm getting at is that it's hard for me to say one genre is better than another since they're so varied. Edited by Picklegod, Mar 15 2011, 03:32 PM.

Foremost is the chromatic substance accomplishment to Picklegod! Pickle contributes to all parts of the forum, stays astir, and mostly is awful to everyone he meets. A wonderful, intelligent somebody, Pickle testament now better us with every day NF decisions. Approval Picklgod! -afrad15 | |

I understand that the market is jam packed with an abundance of first-person shooters, but the genre is far from being "bad". Some of the best games ever made are FPSs (Halo, Doom, Unreal, BioShock, Call of Duty 4, Half-Life 2, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark). I personally wouldn't be able to pick one genre for another—it needs to be on a game-to-game basis. |

i don't like many FPS games, especially black ops. I much prefer puzzle games and action adventure like Zelda. |

Is it really even possible to compare two entire genres and pick which is better? I mean, that's like thousands and thousands of games. |

I don't see why it wouldn't be - I mean, it's not actually possible to compare two things perfectly - there's always some kind of fall out. You could just compare what are your favorites of each genre, and then go and compare those games to each other based on what you seek out of a game (music, fun factor, strategy, etc), and from there, which ever has more "better" games in your opinion would be the superior genre. Of course, that's not ideal for large scale runs, and like you said, there are thousands of titles...so I don't know. I personally know, though, that I don't like certain genres, so that makes it easier. |
