In fact, they teased Skyward sword E3 2009, showed gameplay E3 2010, and we have confirmation it's coming sometime after E3 2011. Plus, given all the other big name games coming out and the fact that this game appears to be in early-ish development stages, it seems only logical to wait awhile to release it. But, like you said, you never know ;p I wonder if anyone actually expected to get Skyward Sword when they said it would come out. They did the same thing with Twilight Princess. Zelda games are notoriously late... Which sucks. I just hope to hell their more prompt with this Mario game.

They did the same thing with New Super Mario Bros. Wii, so I can easily see this 3DS Mario game being a November title this year, or at least early 2012. It won't be a late 2012 release, though. I guarantee.

I still reckon 2012 , they first mentioned galaxy 2 around e3 2009 , and it didnt get released till summer 2010 . theres quite alot of good games dated for this year ( paper mario and mario kart ) so they might be better leaving it when there hasnt been as many first party titles released as they tend to take over the sales and drown 3rd party sales quite easily .

They said they will be utilizing the 3D technology at GDC. Its defiantly going to be a 3D game, but as usual, the 3DS has a slider than can turn off or lower the effects.
