Sigh. Sony reminds me now of Sega. Sega always tried to be a head of Nintendo the same way being more "high tech". The Game Gear with it's colour and higher price with not as many good games as the Game Boy. The Game Boy won. Also when Sega tried to jump a head of the Snes with the 32 bit Saturn. The DREAMCAST. The PSP is more high tech as far as graphics than the DS with not as many good games as the DS. NEVER JUMP TO FAR A HEAD WITH THE GRAPHICS AND OVERALL POWER OF THE CONSOLE. This thing is going to cost a SHIT load of money.

A no buy for me unless I see some DAMN good games and a lot of them.

Well, like I said, as with the PSP, I'll buy it once it's far, far cheaper. (I bought a modified PSP for 50 dollars. It has sound reactive triggers and a custom UI) Once I can do that with the PSP2, then I'm good.

I'd also like to point out that the GUI on this thing is fucking awful. I mean, I'm sure it's not final, and I hope it supports themes, but that bubble interface looks disgusting. I really, really like the XMB on PSP and the PS3; I'm hoping that they have that available for this thing. As it stands, it looks like they just crammed everything onto the screen.

A little bit of good news, though; apparently, the sticks are actually sticks this time! That's awesome news for me - the nub is awful. Apparently, these are fully extended, capped off sticks like on the PS2/PS3 remotes. Awesome.

Also, someone brought this up on another forum, and I found it interesting; notice how the majority of the titles, if not all shown are actually Sony titles. I know that Capcom and a lot of other developers have signed on for it, but it's interesting to see that they'd swing the doors open with Uncharted, Killzone, Littlebig Planet and other Sony held titles with no information about games that would appeal to Sony's target market (who I still can't identify) like Madden, 2K games, etc. I mean, I'm sure it's because the project's been under wraps and the dev's haven't had time with it and all, but it's something worth noting. Something like this happened with the Dreamcast as well :/

Perhaps Capcom, EA, and 2K are staying away because the development costs to too high. Perhaps Capcom saw that the price to make a 3DS game was far cheaper than that of the PSP2, that's why we see Street Fighter IV, and Resident Evil on the 3DS, yet nothing on the PSP2. Despite this however, I think that they will eventually make games on the PSP2, but I'm pretty sure they see what we all see: Nintendo's 3DS will most likely sell far more, so they want a game for the system that is in more people's hands.

I wonder how much games will cost , The 3ds seems to be raning 30-40 on most games , I can see this one going for 40-50 , much like the ps3 .
I wont get it because Im getting a 3ds , and I can guarantee this thing will cost near to what the ps3 cost when it came out .

    On a graphics comparison scale , the 3ds is about 360 ( a bit lower ) while psp2 looking around ps3 standard .

I think for both systems, the texture quality varies. (I say texture quality because that's what most people think of when they say "graphics" - remember, the graphics/visuals encompass everything from texture quality to framerate, draw distance, tearing, etc)

Some of the 3DS games, while in motion, look like they're straight 360 ports. (Resident Evil being the most obvious one - in motion, that game looks like it was made for the 360) Others, like Mario Kart 3DS and a few other Nintendo titles, look like they're mid range - high end Wii titles. What I find interesting is that the best looking titles seem to come from 3rd Party developers - none of Nintendo's titles seem to look as visually pleasing as Capcom's or Konami's (as far as textures go.) That's pretty odd, seeing as Nintendo's usually the only company that can push high end visuals on their console. Then again, all of Nintendo's titles are bright, colorful titles that would look odd with realistic visuals (save Nintendogs + cats, which I think is their best looking title), so it might be that.

As far as the PSP2 goes (I refuse to call it NGP - that just sounds stupid), most of the titles are running as PS3 ports on a smaller screen, so they'll look like fully blown PS3 titles, which is great. I think the weakest looking title texture wise is Littlebig Planet, but that could be said for the PS3 itself as well, so it's no big deal. I just hope that these memory cards the PSP2 will be using won't be stuffed with hi res texture packs and little game play. (cough cough Final Fantasy)

Seriously, it feels like this is just Sony panicking and trying to try and compete with the 3DS. But, remember, the 3DS is coming out in March. The PSP2 is coming out in time for the holidays. That gives the 3DS a HUGE advantage in the market of ~9 months, meaning the PSP2 might already be a lost cause before it is even released. Plus, while it may be a handheld, how much battery life will it actually have? 1-2 hours, perhaps? That doesn't look good.

Also, watch it cost at least $500 IMO. If the PS3 was $600 when it came out, why wouldn't we see something close to that for the PSP2?

I'll admit that the pics of the new PSP2 did in fact make me salivate a bit. I'm far more likely to get this instead of the 3DS, but I'm not completely sold until I see a good amount of gameplay footage.

Is there going to be LBP on the psp2 ? or are you on about the psp version ? I found the textures on the ps3 vesions were actually really good .

I think the graphics between the 2 handhelds is alot more level this time , maybe we will se some games being made for 3ds standards , and ported to the psp2 , like what they do with the 360 and ps3 .

Didn't they show Littlebig Planet at the demo? I remember seeing images online that have LBP on the PSP2.

Oh, and I'm not saying the texture quality is bad - it's just not as "realistic" looking as say, Uncharted.

And yeah, it looks as if the standard will be "360/PS3, 3DS/PSP2, Wii/DS/PS2" as opposed to the old "360/PS3, DS/PSP/Wii", which is great.

I havent really looked at many psp2 stuff other thsn the uncharted video .
the psp2 shows how far behind we are in the home console market , I dont think we will see a new home console until about 2015 .

I would consider getting a psp2 once it had enough good games on it , but Ive just preorded a 3ds and its ovbious that this thing wont come cheap .

Because of my gaming tastes, I'll prefer a 3DS just because of the games it has to offer and, if the people on here are right, the PSP2 will be more expensive.

    Same here.

I was just curious, though... Does anyone know how the touch pad on the back of the PSP2 will be used?

No , dont really see the point in it , just something to raise the price , though it might be abit more damaging than normal if you from it and it wrecks the thing .

In some games, it'll be used for alternate functions. For example, in the Uncharted demo they showed running live, there was a part where Nathan needed to climb a vine. You could either use the touch screen and swipe up, use the analog stick, or use your fingers on the rear touch pad and swipe up with one finger at a time. The only problem with that is the stability of the device - when the lady was doing it, she had to hold the device in an awkward position, and it looked as if she were going to drop it. It's an awesome idea for some games, but it's not ideal for an action game where you'll need to switch back and forth.

I also heard you could potentially use the touch pad at the back for taps—basically replacing the R2 and L2 buttons which the original PSP unfortunately missed.
