Why start threads like this? All its going to lead to is fanboys bitching about their consoles. |

I did the same thing. PS3 is the best simply because of free Internet. Also, keep in mind that Wii wasn't the first in motion control. There was the eye toy. The PSP wasn't bad, it just didn't have that many good games. And then people get surprised and shocked when its good games are better than games on the console. The Wii is the worst. It was a failed attempt for the gaming industry to go innovative. Nintendo went innovative- everyone else struggled. The DS had a huge selection of games and certainly made use of its extra features. The PSP was mostly used for music and videos. I remember reading somewhere that the PSP did just as well as the GBA did in its time. |

Hey, at least my DS was sturdy. My PSP's internal battery went dead within a few months, and I barely even played it. |

Erm, in terms of sales, the PSP is still far behind the GBA (64 million to 81 million, give or take a few .million on each side), and while that is technically all units combined, the PSP itself has about 4 iterations out there as well, which were all rolled into one for the sake of number tallying. So while the PSP isn't doing bad, it's not doing as well as the GBA did. I'm not sure of how they fair against each other on the software side, but seeing as the GBA has an enormous library with many best sellers, I think the results would be similar. Feel free to correct me if you wish to do the research. Also, another note - "EyeToy" isn't in the same category as the Wii's motion control. The Eye toy mapped full/upper body movement and used your entire body as a controller using an external camera - the Wii remote relays information in a different manner. EyeToy uses motion, but it's not in the same motion control field as the Wii remote. If that's the case and you want to get technical about it, SEGA would be the one to claim the first "motion" control - they had that obnoxious ring that you placed on the floor and used your body for movement. And yeah, I made the same mistake everyone else did. I think the worst up there in terms of game availability and overall design is probably the PSP, but in all actuality, every console up there has a fair amount of decent games that I like for it, and none of them are notably "bad", in terms of quality, games available, sales, etc. |

Well, I said the Wii is the worst because I haven't seen any real innovative gameplay that didn't come from Nintendo. Ice said the opposite before and I haven't asked to specify how. Haven't been attacked yet. I've been informed. Oh. Hmm... Well, I think Nintendo hasn't sued Sony for the motion control thing is because of the tech behind it then. The Wiimote uses infrared light and PS Move uses... I forgot what they use. Come to think of it, I guess the Eye Toy would be legible to sue Kinect. Not that I know the specifics about that either. I don't know if it should be noted, but I don't own a platform from this generation. |

The Wii could've been the best, but no one- not even Nintendo- used it to it's full potential. |

Nintendo couldn't sue Sony, even if they wanted to - there's no basis for it. Everyone is free to compete in the same market, and Sony is an electronic juggernaut - they pump out (usually) high quality material all the time. Unless Sony copied the same exact tech as Nintendo did, Nintendo wouldn't have any claim; but it's Sony, so they waited until the market was large enough and until the technology for a better model was cheap enough and they struck. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be going as well as they thought it would, but that's something completely different. Likewise, Sony can't sue Microsoft - free market. Unless MS copied their exact design or infringed on any of their material, they can't do anything about it. "The unique use of the motion controller to date" was what I said, and I stand by it. Most developers used the Wii remote simply for point and click, or as an extension/replacement of a classic control style. This holds true for the Move as well - point and click, or use it as a simple tilt/rotate motion, etc. Anyone here play Smooth Moves? Nintendo took motion control to a whole new level with that game - they made the player want to use their entire body for certain poses. I still think the "Mohawk" pose beats anything that I've seen from any other developer on any system to date - it looks fucking retarded, and it makes you feel embarrassed, but it's just so much fun the first few times around that anyone who says anything about it looks like a dick. Nintendo incorporated the speakers into the motion mainstream as well, something Sony and Microsoft cannot do with their motion controls. One of the Mini games in either Mario Party 8 or another party game (can't recall at the moment) had this fantastic mini game where you would shake the remote to shake a soda can, and you would hear the fizz in the remote, and you'd have to gauge when it would come out and stop shaking. I played it and I was floored - such a simple concept, and it was so much fun. From hide and seek with the remote, to playing a game where you combine motion and sound - it's something that only Nintendo's Wii can produce at the moment. That's what I meant. |

I don't really feel like debating. I've done a surplus of it in other threads on the forum but I just can't fathom why someone could think the Wii is the best of the three consoles this generation. Like, the Wii is miles behind the competition—not in terms of sales, but in terms of quality games and technology. I'm just flabbergasted when I read this stuff. |

How can you not see it? I think what people fail to realize, ultimately, is the fact that not everyone values the same things equally, and it clearly shows when it comes to video games, music, movies, etc. I don't like FPS games or games with blood and gore. That's like, 89 percent of both the PS3 and the 360's library which doesn't appeal to me. I do like 4 player splitscreen games, puzzles, old school classics, deep (often japanese) rpgs and platformers. Which of the three consoles is for me? I mean, it's super obvious and simple, which is why I never understood why people argue about why someone likes one thing over another. Really - I like trumpets, tubas, soulful, positive messages (if any), and the saxophone, and I don't like negative messages or people screaming lyrics over the sound of drums and 43 electric guitars playing different rifts. Why would I buy a Metallica or 50 Cent CD? |
