Terrible sections, in good games; Those pesky blemishes on gems.

Any mandatory tutorial in any game - I understand you want to help and all, but if you give me a tutorial on anything but easy and normal, fuck you. Especially those tutorials that are super long because you have to get something just right; Castlevania: Judgement is the latest offender that I can think of that does this. You have to do this easy combo, but it's super fucking specific about what angle you can hit at, how much damage you can do, how far the character must fly before being hit, the part of the body that's hit, the fucking temperature of the dungeon you're in when it happens; everything. Ok, not the temperature part, but everything else is true. It wouldn't be so hard if the engine was better, but it's so poor at recognizing the exact area where Belmont's Whip hit's that it's nigh impossible to do it. Fuck.

I didn't mind the triforce gathering quest, though I do agree; Tingle's ass raping prices were fucking criminal.

There's a couple of can think of:

    - The Triforce Shard collecting in the Wind Waker. I actually stopped playing the game when I got here because I was so pissed off. What a damn shame that such a fantastic game had (well, still has I guess) a lame, albeit mandatory quest. And I agree with you, Ice. Those prices from Tingle were fucking ridiculous.
    - In Gears of War the parts where you have split up. It's not that bad in the single player, but when you have to split up in co-op the game becomes twice as hard. If one of you dies, the game is over. So both of you have to get passed the part without dying, which is ridiculous. My brother and I got stuck on one specific part in Gears of War 1 because of this. We still haven't beaten it on Hardcore.
    - The ending parts of Fable III. Like, who was the fucking genius that thought of this? I don't want to spoil it but it's one of the laziest attempts at an end-game sequence I've ever seen. So disappointing.
    - Escort missions and mandatory flying missions in Grand Theft Auto games. Escort missions are obvious but in San Andreas I absolutely hated the flying missions where you had to fly a plane. It took me at least 5-6 hours just to pass the flying exam (or whatever it was). I just couldn't get the hang of it and ruined the pace of the game.
    - The Flood in Halo. Jesus Christ. These missions have to be the WORST. Halo 3's entire campaign was fucked because of one of the last missions with the Flood. One of the stupidest enemies of all time. Absolute game ruiner (well, not really, but yeah).

I will think of more when they come to me.

-Dead Space; where you have to manually destroy the asteroids with the Ishimura's cannons . Sometimes, the reticule is to sensitive, sometimes not sensitive enough.

-Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare; One Shot, One Kill right at end, on Veteran difficulty. FML. Perhaps it was just crazy challenging that's why it's so devious.

-Prototype; fighting Elizabeth Greene. Not only does she do tons of damage, but there are annoying infected there to annoy you, stop you from throwing things at her and are forever respawning. The game battle was literally; throw car at the boss, run back very fast to avoid attack, kill infected, repeat. Each car throw did very little damage...check points? Nah. FUUUUUUUUUUU.

-Gears of War; Act 2, driving mission at night on insane. Maybe I just suck at driving that thing but...ugh.

Oh man, I totally forgot about this part. Yeah, I agree. Terrible portion to a great game.

The entire ending sequence of Dreamfall.
The game was doing fine until it ended 10 hours too early and dropped a cliffhanger of astronomical proportions.

One I hear a lot is the Triforce collecting in Wind Waker. Personally, I enjoy it because it gives you a good reason to just go and explore to your heart's content. I mean, the chart you're looking for may be far away, but on the way to it, you find that you discover all kinds of cool places and things you didn't know were there. So to me, it accentuates the free exploration, which is what Zelda is all about.

    Though Tingle's money-gouging was a bit uncalled for ._.
Just started that part. It's not too bad. A little tedious, but I love the exploration. And sailing in Wind Waker, to me, is very visually pleasing. And the music is very nice. I can definitely see why people hate it though, since sailing seems like it never ends.

Yeah, sailing being boring was one of those things that never occured to me until I hit the Internet.

I loved it too; swinging the camera around, hearing the music, watching the boat rise with the waves and all. And the changing weather was always fun, as was unexpectedly finding fun detours to explore. The only thing I wished for was to be able to use items (telescope specifically, but arrows, bomb cannon, etc.) while the boat was still moving. Like using arrows on Epona in other games - Epona just runs straight while you shoot or whatever. And in WW, since the distances are so long with so few obstructions, letting the ship go straight by itself wouldn't be a problem at all.

But ah, I <3 WW so much.

Changing boots in the Water Temple (OoT). We were all thinking it.

I also hated the Beaver mini-game in DK64, especially the one in Creepy Castle which was near-impossible.

Have you played Portal? Almost the entire game is a tutorial, it is mandatory, easy and difficult at points, but always feels right.

I have one that I don't think has been mentioned yet:
Mt Moon. in Red and Blue Versions sucks. The Zubats, the sheer ugliness.
    I hate Mt. Moon.

Those things aren't common thankfully, but god I hate those. And it doesn't have to be a tutorial, but it ends up being mandatory anyway.

Are you guys serious? The Triforce collecting felt like a small task/mini game. It wasn't hard. It was just traveling a lot. Maybe two pieces were hard- the ghost ship and whatever that last one I can't remember. Tingle did charge a lot, but I just took more advantage of that endless hole with the floors and the monsters and rupees.

What I hated about Wind Waker? Sailing. I was really staring at the screen for long amounts of time waiting to get to my destination. On a fishing boat. Or something. A rescue boat? No thanks Nintendo, I liked it better when I could roam on a passenger ship for days in an RPG or solving the train mysteries in Paper Mario.

I hate missions or side quests where you have kill every single monster. I skipped one? Gotta redo the whole level. If not? Backtrack. That sucks even more.
I have started a forum and I am currently looking for a small community willing to discuss things in general to waste time.

Going with tutorial sections in games: there is nothing more boring than being taught how to catch Pokemon.
For people who have been playing, for years, it is always a terrific bore when the new game comes out and you're still taught how to catch a god damn Rattata in the slowest way possible.
