Which game should I play first? I have both, but I've never played any one of them.

    Burst link!

I like OoT so I would suggest that one, but it doesn't really matter which order you play them in.

    Away saving Yoshis.

As Zane said, it doesn't really matter what order you play them in.
I also think that you should play "Ocarina of Time" first, though. It's a fantastic game. My favourite, infact.
But, you should go and stand in a corner and hang your head in shame first because you've never played it before. :P

    Ocarina of Time.
You might not understand the beginning of Majora's Mask, not that it's essential to understand, because Link is looking for something, and that something is only explained near the end of OoT.

(Temporarily closed. ...Gwaargh!) *doo wee doo wee doo*

Expanding on why Nublar said, a whole lot of MM, not just the beginning, is best understood if you played OoT first. For instance, many of the characters, tribes, items, symbols, etc. from OoT are reused in MM. See, MM's world is a parallel version of OoT's Hyrule (sorta explained in game), and MM's story occurs after the events of OoT, so a lot of it makes better sense if you played OoT before.

So I'd play OoT first, then MM second. Besides, OoT is pretty much the definitive Zelda gamplay experience, so you'll probably be gald you did :>

I was 4 when we had an N64. Game was confusing (or at least to me then) so I never really played it xD

    ...Really?

Go for OoT first, since it's the weaker of the two IMO (unless you like length). Then MM. And finish both. Especially MM.

To answer your question, Ocarina of Time, because it is simply the greatest zelda experience, in my opinion even more so than Twilight Princess. Futhermore, I disagree with Majora's Mask being A direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, it's more of a spin-off I'd say... however the Zelda timeline is a very vividly disputed concept.... just google it... :P I have my own theories... but we won't get into that :P.

Ocarina of time will help introduce you to the series (this is assuming you have never played a Zelda game before) because it will help you understand the mechanics of Zelda better, and you will appreciate Majora's Mask more if you do. Majora's Mask is the better of the two in my opinion however they are both excellent games.

Personally I found Twilight Princess to be the worst Zelda game in the series (overall not a terrible game I just didn't like it nearly as much as the others, Link's Awakening was the best Zelda game imo)

Including the cdi games aswell ?
out of the ones I played I think zelda II was the worst , it was mostly a sidecrolling fighter than anything .

I thought that the worst entry into the series (as an actual Zelda game, as it was still a great game on it's own) was Zelda II. Not to beat a dead horse, but I didn't feel like the style they used does justice to the name.

Like everyone else here, I'd recommend Ocarina of Time over Majora's Mask for first timers - you'll understand the story better (as far as progression goes) and the game is a bit easier - Majora's Mask isn't really user friendly.

I agree with Zelda II, in my opinion one of the 2 games that failed big time, could've been something. ( the other one is ST)
Some decent ones that i don't care for, like the Four Swords adventure, Legend of Zelda and Link's Awakening were even alot more fun :P
If i think about it, only 2 games in all the series that suck, is actually pretty good for a game serie.

Even Final Fantasy have alot more fail games in their series, i just hope Spirit Tracks will never be repeated and they will make something less crappy from now on..
Phantom Hourglass was a fun game, but shouldn't have a sequel like that.
Sounds like they need ideas: Yeah lets now do trains and he's another ancestor of Link 100 years later than WW ,and Zelda's soul is sucked out of her body and her ghost possesses armors..
It's the stupidest idea i've ever seen and i almost never critizise Zelda games. Don't get me started on the menu as well, probably the worst one so far, since Zelda II xD

I didnt actually mind spirit tracks that much , annoying on the thing of repeating the vehicle cycle again but it was an allright game IMO .
though its placing in the time line doesnt make sence , if zelda went back to being tetra in PH then how is there a zelda in ST ?
there other parts that dont make sence , put I dont have the game anymore .
