Which game do you think is the better one ?

Personally , I would go for majoras mask , it seemed like alot of emotion and a hell of alot more effort went into it , making a sequel to the " best game ever " meant they had to make something totaly difftrent , something that wouldnt dissapoint , and they did .

Note , I didnt put a both option in because I got the feeling there might be alot of half way choices from people , I realy just want a straight answer .

Majora's Mask. I just liked the whole feeling of it a lot better. But I think it's unfair in some ways. Nintendo was delving into new territory with Ocarina. Once they knew it was a well established formula, they could improve on it in several ways.

I never thought of it that way , nintendo getting there way round the tec the first time .
I recently did another playthrough of oot , trying to find out what made it so special , it realy didnt seem as magnificent as the first time , nor was it quite so addictive , you could argue that knowing all of it already wasnt going to be as encouraging to explore , but it didnt seem like that .

Weird, when I did my 2nd playthrough of OoT last year, it felt twice as magnificent and addictive as the first time!

I dunno, Majora's Mask is a fantastic, fantastic game that I'd go so far as to call literature (not just because of its story and such, but more the way the game was developed and pieced together around a theme), but... The gameplay experience in OoT is just pure gold.

Majora's Mask is without a doubt one of my favorite games, and so is Ocarina of Time, but I thought that MM had much more to bring at the table. I'll admit, I overlooked the game for three years because I absolutely hated the whole 3 days thing and I thought it was too hard and annoying, which at that time I was probably eight or nine years old. When I got older, I got in the swing of things and emotionally felt attached to it. I mean, it's no Mother 3, but it does dive more into the darkness and fragility of things.

Emotion wise, I would say that it let us, the players see what the outer characters went through, though there was emotional scenes with Link, but we got to interact with the lives of others and help others, while discovering their secrets and feelings. Basically, you interacted with the characters more, rather than speaking to some scared Cucco Lady, helping her once or twice, and then leaving her be, without knowing her relationships with other characters and what was going on in her life.

MM is just one big story book, and so is Ocarina of Time, but Majora's Mask covers not one character, but many. Though limited, you got to play as other characters in Majora's Mask and talk to people like you were that person.

I wish that Nintendo would stop trying to base their works on Ocarina of Time and try to do something more intimate and dark, which Twilight Princess was a little like that, but I thought the story lacked...but I digress...

I can see there reasoning for using the oot formula over again but Id rather have something new .
how the hell are we suppose to get something brilliantly diffrent if we stick to the same stuff each time ?
thats some of the things that made majora great , there was nothing else like it .

Overall i would say Majora's Mask is better, it got more feel to it and is the best Zelda game in my opinion, although Ocarina is very cool too.
Those are my favorite Zelda games.
At first i didnt like Majora because of the time and its only 3 days everytime but i got used to it.
Also alot easier with the backward time song :P

Easily Majora's Mask for me. Only Zelda game of it's kind (TP comes close with the atmosphere, but the story lacks compared to MM). The gameplay, the atmosphere, the story, the characters...amazing. Simply amazing. It's easily my most favorite game of all time. Nothing will beat it. And the fact that it was only made in 18 months...fucking ridiculous. If they had more time to work with...oh god, it makes me drool.

Now Reaper, that is one heck of a question. I mean, 2 of the greatest Zeldas of all time. But im gonna say Majoras Mask. Sure, OoT was the best selling zelda game blah blah blah, but Majoras Mask had a lot more uhh how do you say it...story? Not sayin OoT was bad cause thats definitley second on the zelda list but you know. :sweatdrop:
    Now heres a good commercial!

It's always been OoT for me. I don't know how much weight my opinion carries since I have never beaten Majora's mask, but I have attempted it many times. It's no that the game is hard or anything, it's just the game annoys me for some reason. I've made it to where I have the Zora mask and hat's as far as I have ever gotten.

I love the simplicity in the story of Ocarina of Time compared to Majora's mask.
    Holy Crap I'm old :(

Well, OoT took more than 18 months. I'd assume at least 3-5 years. If only I could find the article again about MM, I'd post it. But really, it's one of those insane were you go "holy shit, that's amazing".

Also, just going to throw this in, but while OoT is longer, due to having more dungeons, MM's side-quests do help make up for some of that (at least for me). Really, since it's basically the same game engine, it's pretty much a difference between a longer game and a shorter yet complete game (in the sense it has more stuff than OoT).

MM was to give people something to play until the gc was release I believe , but gc got delayed longer than expected so that didnt work out :P
Another aspect I liked about majora was you could do countless diffrent things in diffrent time lines , while you would be stook with that decision in oot .
I spent multiple times riding epona into dongo dongos for the whole 3 days .
