Most people will probably disagree, but split-screen has lost it's appeal to me. It's just not fun anymore. Screen looking is just lame and let's face it, we all have peripheral vision, even if we focus on 1/2 of the 42" screen, there's always that other half that is visible. It takes away the challenge and limits the challenge you can get out of a multiplayer experience. I don't know about you, but I couldn't seriously challenge a friend on split-screen, it'd have to be through XBL or PSN, sorry I need my full 42" (inb4sexualreference) and there's just no glory beating someone on split-screen.

Mind you, I am being very specific to FPS, TPS and other types of multiplayer action games. Racing games on the other hand need split-screen, it's just an entirely different environment.

If all FPS games ceased to include split-screen I wouldn't really care. On the same token, I don't necessarily "want" them to remove it, I just think it's unnecessary.
Back in the Goldeneye and Turok days on the N64 I had some pretty fucking epic split screen games. I think it adds more of a challenge and it takes away the possibility of your friend being a jackass and hiding somewhere for the win. Mind you they can still camp, but at least you know where they are. It adds challenge because you know what weapons each other have and where they are on the map.

It's still awesome I was just trying to relate to your past experience by using games that you might have played back when you did play split screen. I still play split screen with my friends and my little brother and have a ton of fun doing so. Local multiplayer and co-op is dying out and it saddens me.

I for one, have more fun playing a multi-player game with other people, in the same room. I like talking and having fun, so I'm more on the side of having split-screen.

Its quite rare that you get games local multiplayer without split screen ( Little big planet , lego star wars are 2 )
but little big planet for one is set in a sidescrolling way , but for alot of games especialy with shooters , I dont think it could realy work at all .
I think he means more for FPS games, Racers, etc - anything that would take more than one screen to play. A lot of titles this generation lack this, and it's quite frustrating.
Didnt I just say that ?
anyway with shooters impossible , and racers , well how the hell would you be asble to overtake any bloody thing ?

Surely split screen is better more than ever , people yend to have bigger Tv's now so you gte a fair chunk of the screen .

I don't think you understand - I was agreeing with you said, and then said he was talking in general about FPS' and racers, games that NEED split screen.

Some games are more better with split screen, but then again, screenwatching does become an issue, but i'd say removing the option of splitscreens from games is stupid.

I remember playing Farcry with my mates at home, it was actually really awesome, this was before i discovered modern warfare, anyhow...when farcry 2 was released, there was no split screen mode and the online mode was aweful, that is a pure example of a fucking stupid asshat move.

Online, split-screen, both should be in games now. I mean there's no harm in including either of them, as people like to play whichever any time. When I got friends over, we play split-screen, but otherwise we'll play online. Having both is just perfectly fine.

I can remeber at times trying to get a good veiw of my part of the screen , but its either that or no multiplayer , well with people you know at that .

Yea I agree...but I was lucky...when I was living at home, my 2 brothers also had ps3's, so we could all play games like modern warfare online at home without being in the same room and we could invite more people to private mathces.

plus look at this solution to avoiding screen watching...lol...
