What do you guys think of how a lot of companies are removing split-screen from their games and making it so the only multiplayer is online multiplayer? I for one love online multiplayer, but split-screen (and subsequently, system link) aren't entirely useless. Some people still like to play with friends and family in real life. A good model for split-screen is what Halo does, where you can have up to four people playing online at the same time, even if three of those people don't have Xbox Live Gold. Some games that don't have split-screen are Team Fortress 2, Aliens vs Predator (2010), and Medal of Honor (2010). Who else would like to see future games have split-screen and system link in them, in addition to online? |

It should be a requirement for all multiplayer games to have local split screen. If I want to play with my brother, I shouldn't have to send him to a different fucking house. |

You should have the option of split-screen multiplayer on every game so you can play with family. |

Not to mention if they didn't have split-screen capability, certain game sales would tank from lack of family appeal. Definitely a requirement. |

Its quite rare that you get games local multiplayer without split screen ( Little big planet , lego star wars are 2 ) but little big planet for one is set in a sidescrolling way , but for alot of games especialy with shooters , I dont think it could realy work at all . |

All games should have the option of splitscreen up to 4 player local imo, internet's cool and all but local play is way more fun. |

QFT. Only in local play can you punch your friend or family member in the mouth if they kill you.

I think he means more for FPS games, Racers, etc - anything that would take more than one screen to play. A lot of titles this generation lack this, and it's quite frustrating. |

Most people will probably disagree, but split-screen has lost it's appeal to me. It's just not fun anymore. Screen looking is just lame and let's face it, we all have peripheral vision, even if we focus on 1/2 of the 42" screen, there's always that other half that is visible. It takes away the challenge and limits the challenge you can get out of a multiplayer experience. I don't know about you, but I couldn't seriously challenge a friend on split-screen, it'd have to be through XBL or PSN, sorry I need my full 42" (inb4sexualreference) and there's just no glory beating someone on split-screen. Mind you, I am being very specific to FPS, TPS and other types of multiplayer action games. Racing games on the other hand need split-screen, it's just an entirely different environment. If all FPS games ceased to include split-screen I wouldn't really care. On the same token, I don't necessarily "want" them to remove it, I just think it's unnecessary. |
