Who is the better hero, Simon or Link? I won't lie, I think Simon Belmont is a very good rival for Link, since he has to take down flying demons, Medusa, ghosts, zombies, ghouls, skeletal warriors, and a bunch of other scary crap (Dracula is equivalent to Ganondorf, in my opinion). Sure, Link's games have a more elaborate storyline, but Simon's, although a bit simpler, is much darker and mature. Also, Simon displays his awesome abilities with limited weapons and a Morning Star and kicks ass throughout the game, while Link has to rely on a lot of the numerous weapons he gets. But still, the Master Sword is one hell of a weapon, and it's fun using a variety of items. So, who do you think is the better hero? The Hero of Time? Or the legendary vampire slayer? |

Are we comparing Simon Belmont to any specific Link, or the entire lineage of Links? Because if it's the latter, this would be way more interesting if we put every Belmont up against the Link incarnations. Anyway, the entire Belmont family as a whole is more interesting than the incarnations of Link. Mostly because the family has a lot more depth than the Zelda protagonists and their roots in vampire mythos are more exciting than Links "chosen by the goddesses" shtick. In terms of the actual combat, the vampire killer is way more versatile and fun to use than the master sword ever will be, and I'm more fond of the unique capabilities of holy weapons and magic than Links pickups. I also adore the Castlevania franchise and find Zelda to be terribly mediocre outside of maybe 2 games, so no bias here at all. Edited by BonBon, Oct 21 2010, 11:45 PM.
