Hey everyone. I have been playing Ocarina of Time for a while, and have gotten pretty far. I am in the Shadow Temple. For some reason, when I die, I don't respawn with full health. Am I supposed to? This makes it difficult to beat particularly tough bosses because there might not be a lot of hearts in the surrounding areas. Please help! |

I remember dying so many times in the Shadow Temple when I replayed through Zelda, for I usually just go straight through the game instead of trying to find all of the heart pieces and such. Anyway, from what I recall, you do not respawn all of your hearts after you die.

You should respawn with three hearts if you die running out of hearts. If you fall off something, you should lose ... I think one heart. |

Fairies are your best bet. Always keep a couple in bottles, they come in very handy when you die. They automatically bring you back to life and you will have full hearts. There's a Fairy Fountain in the Graveyard. There are two graves with flowers in front of them, one is Dampé's grave and one is the Fairy Fountain. You should grab a couple of them there since it's right in front of the Shadow Temple. ![]() Lon Lon Milk is also a good option. Play Epona's song in front of a cow and it will give you some milk. The milk replenishes five hearts, I believe and you can just drink it during battle. It's better than wasting money on potion. You also get two servings out of each bottle, so, in total it replenishes 10 hearts. (Sorry if you already knew all of that. Just thought I'd mention it, just incase. )

Haha, is that what the cows in Majora's Mask say? I haven't found a cow in that game yet. I haven't got that far into it. The one's in Ocarina of Time are like, "Moooooooooo! What a nice song... It reminds me of the pasture... That song makes me feel so good, I can produce a lot of milk!" I can't remember the locations of all the Fairy Fountains, that's the main one that sticks out in my mind. I don't know if you know this, but, when you need a Hylian Shield, go into the grave with the Fairy Fountain in it and there will be a chest sitting there. Open it up and you'll get a free Hylian Shield. It'll save you buying one in the Bazaar in Castle Town. |

Yeah, I think I originally bought the shield too. I either paid full price for it or got it on discount after talking to the soldier that guards the gate to Death Mountain.

okay... firstly a reiteration of what everybody else has said, yes, if you die through losing of all your hearts, you will come back with only your initial three. if you fall off or into magma/lava its one you lose. and trust me and everyone else that said it. Faries in bottles are your key to success. Unlike milk or potion you need not have to use it, because they automatically come out once your HP comes to zero. AND (and i'm sorry if someone already said it) the easiest way to find a fairy's fountain is to warp to sacred forest meadow, go down the stairs, and up the ladder and into the grotto (hole in the floor). AND I find blue potion a rip off, primarily because you rarely need magic and HP at the same time, so if you're gonna use any potion at all, it sould be green potion. and yes, the shadow temple is quite tendious so i feel your pain... master quest is almost ten times worse :(. if you need any help let me know. PS - doesn't it really SUCK that faries in the newer zelda games only refill 8 hearts!!? Edited by Master_Quester, Dec 28 2010, 05:49 PM.
