The article explains they received the images from people who acquired it legitimately in Japan. The only way one could acquire a game legitimately before release in Japan is for review. Reviewers are not allowed to distribute information about the game unless Nintendo allows them to. I still say there was something nefarious occurring. |

Actually, the game began being shipped as a whole last Tuesday, being received by many last Wednesday. This is when coverage began. Not through reviewers, but by actual players. Edited by Angel of Light, Sep 22 2010, 07:43 PM.

Kind of sucks tbh. When will Nintendo allow the images to go back up? |

The two sites that were hit have supposedly been given the okay to start back up again. But not to the degree they were releasing images before. Probably on a much more subtle level. Looking back on the situation now, I think I understand why Nintendo did it. Three Pokemon in particular are event-only Pokemon that have not been revealed in any way publicly. Nintendo probably plans to reveal said Pokemon in a big way, and the sites could've potentially ruined this with their posting of the sprites. I am in no way condoning what they did. It was a matter that didn't need as much attention as it was given. And if I am correct in my ascertation, then they could've just asked for these Pokemon in specific to be taken down without making a huge fuss. But they most likely did this to exemplify their legal power over said sites, not wanting to seem meek in the eyes of us, the fans. It seems cruel at first, but the legal jargon is necessary in the end. Crypticity is better than outright truth in the legal world. |
