Many things. We've explained a few.

    Look up the rest.

    Reaper.
    censored black sheep .
Ive looked up a few things , the first involves olimar crashing and the pikimin having to get the parts for the ship , and the second doesnt seem to have much a good sotry behind it .
by the looks of things , the gameplay seems to matter more .

    Much more.

You don't get that much story while you're playing 2 (not sure on 1, as I've never played it).

I feel sorry for Louie to this day ...

(Temporarily closed. ...Gwaargh!) *doo wee doo wee doo*

The second one actually had more story, in terms of backstory and occuring events.

But the first one stands out for it's deeper issues - the symbiotic relationship between Olimar and the Pikmin. The Pikmin were disorganized and weak, prey to the many ferocious beasts that littered the land. Olimar crash lands, and finds that he has but a short time left to live before the atmosphere poisons him.

Both sides would die or be left helpless if left alone. But Olimar becomes the leader the Pikmin needed to organize them and help them survive, and at the same time, the Pikmin help him to rebuild his ship so he himself wouldn't die. Neither one can live without the other.

    It's a bit touching, really :p

Reading what Togeshroob has said now, how is there even a 2nd game if Olimar get's his ship fixed and flys off to wherever he lives? Does he crash there a 2nd time, or is it some kind of return to the planet just to make sure the Pikmin are still okay?

He returns because the company he works for is going under, and his boss sent Louie and himself on an excursion to dig up funds.

It's not too crazy of a plot, but it's a fun game either way.

I found Pikmin was more focused on its amazing gameplay ... at least in my opinion.

I have to agree, but what impacted me most were the Pikmin themselves. The game makes me wish they were real.

That's true. but I find myself doing that with many characters in video games ... none more than Kirby.
