Zelda, keeping in mind that this is an opinion poll, there are no correct answers, to me mother is just an overly zany rpg, rpgs kinda got old for me (except pokemon). I can only put in attack commands so many times and gaining experience from winning 'duels'. Zelda games to me are just on another level, though lately ive really got into metroid, which has some zelda-style game play I was never aware of for the longest time. Got worse since link to the past???? what kind of joke is that? lol you must be a 2d diehard.. Because Ocarina, Majoras Mask, Twilight Princess are MASTERPIECES. |

I agree that the Zelda franchise didn't turn to shit after Link to the Past. It turned to shit with Links Awakening two years later. |

Because Pokemon is the most original game series ever, and clearly changes up the game with EVERY SINGLE GAME, right? It's not probably the LEAST RPG to ever change with every game that comes out, right? |

Ocarina of Time aged terribly. Playing it now, I can't fathom why you would think it is a masterpiece. It's awful. Majora's Mask is dull and boring. Twilight Princess is a terrible game. |

People. This is about opinions. The word 'favorite' is not universal. People are going to like different things. Please, if someone disagrees with your opinions, understand that they have opinions of their own. No one's opinion is more important than another. If you think a certain game or series is bad, that's up to you, but it's really silly and tasteless to act like what you as a single person thinks should override the opinions and interests of everyone else. And Salazar, you can't validly claim that a game is inherently, always 'boring.' You can't claim that a game is inherently 'terrible.' You may not like said game very much, and that's just fine, but you are not God and can't eternally and forever judge a game to be good or bad. Your opinion is only your opinion, and your interests only your interests. You can't claim them as universal truth. I'm not trying to argue or flame or start up some debate, I'm fine with whatever people like. I'm just saying that this is getting really stupid. Edited by Togeshroob, Sep 5 2010, 07:51 PM.

You HAVE to have terrible taste to think that Ocarina/Majora's Mask/Twilight Princess are good in any sense of the word. |

I said nothing about OoT or MM or TP, and my interests had nothing to do with my point. Again, you may not like them, and that's perfectly fine. But you have to realize that people are going to like different things than you. I'm not sure if you see it this way, but you really shouldn't act so ignorant and elitist and pretend that your interests and opinions are universal truth. Yours are no more important than mine, or anyone else's. I really am not meaning to be rude to you. That's just how I see it. Edited by Togeshroob, Sep 5 2010, 08:02 PM.

I guess I cant really give a concrete argument against the mother series, Having only played and beat Earthbound for SNES. It is certainly a great game. Pokemon just kind of took over my childhood and I still enjoy building a custom team that is unique to my own so I kinda have given the edge to pokemon over mother and FF, as far as RPGs go. Ocarina of time is my fav game of all time, mostly because Ive beaten it like 20 times, done everything there is possibly to do in that game.. I tore that game apart in my lifetime so I am incredibly biased towards it. Saying Majoras Mask is dull and Boring?? Id like to see you find a game with a more unique time frame, the 3 days thing is great and has very little flaws (a few gliches but come on, it was the beginning of the 3d era) I also dissected that one. As for Twilight Princess I will admit my first time through the game I was like "damn this wolf crap", If you can get over finding the invisible bugs and being a wolf through the beginning of the game, this game is INSAINELY EPIC!! Might be my favorite in the series. Im not sure how anyone can enjoy Link to the Past, but hate on the 3d Zelda. I wasnt really aware of the die-hard mother fanbase until right now, I have to admit I am pretty suprised Zelda is not taking the cake. Again this is a simple opinion poll not a place to let lose your biased aggression towards the series that are not your favorite. |

Simple. Ignoring the fact it has a totally different gameplay style- The game has a higher difficulty, the exploration gets far greater focus, tons of optional items, items are useful outside of dungeon puzzles, greatest use of magic in the series, the dungeons actually provide a challenge and aren't nearly as linear as they are in the 3D installments, and the overworld easily has the best design in the entire series. The only flaws in the game are that the hit detection can be wonky at times and there is a significant amount of flaws. Edited by BonBon, Sep 5 2010, 08:11 PM.

Zelda and Mario revolutionized the 3d (and gaming) world. They are Nintendos most popular games for a reason. You havent really made any valid points as to why they are bad games at all, you just keep saying "they suck". For the record, I am in no way hating on your beloved Mother franchise, in fact after this, I will surely have to download a few ROMs. Try making a valid point about the gameplay (keeping im mind OoT was one of the first 3d games ever, MM had more time to work out the kinks) I love OoT because the story is everything Zelda is. Twilight Princess brought Ganon back in epic fashion and I was blown away by the end of that game (after being critical of the first part) |

I respectfully disagree, exploration is like the #1 element put into ALL zelda games, as much as I absolutely love Link to the Past, the 3d dungeons are far less linear than the 2d ones (aside from zelda 1, that game had those bombable walls all over the dungeons that were very difficult to find at times) Think about the Water Temple OoT, Shadow Temple OoT, Snowhead MM, Level 4 MM (whatever you wanna call it). And absically every Twilight Princess dungeon is a good challenge. Edited by person1, Sep 5 2010, 08:21 PM.

I was laying low on arguing about OoT and TP, but then I saw this. Ganon's entire role in Twilight Princess was forced. He came in out of relatively nowhere, his motivations were silly and vague, he had no relation to neither Link nor Midna's story, and and he had almost no character. The game would have benefited from his removal altogether, and instead developing Zant as a character. He has personal problems with Midna, had a freudian excuse, and was the centerpiece of the entire conflict. Not to mention that, after his phenomenal appearence in Wind Waker, this was ridiculous. Ganon's appearence actually reminds me of the terrible plot hijacking Andross pulled in Star Fox Adventures, where he just shows up in the last minute of the game, kicking General Scales out of the story and providing you with a fanservice final boss that doesn't work at all in context. |

I respectfully disagree once again... Zants entire plan was to get the mirror pieces together so that he could bring back Ganon (Who was sealed away by the sages since OoT) The final battle you rejeuvinate ganon's sealed door, and beat him once again (surely not the last time). I think thats pretty classic right there, zant was totally lame. Ganon is the badguy of the series (like bowser...) and going the whole game without knowing he was even in it was a pretty great surprise Edited by person1, Sep 5 2010, 08:28 PM.
