I'd prefer navi. Navi is more informative. If i were to face a boss i wouldnt want a damn fairy to tell me to get a grip. At least navi focus's on the boss's weak points.
As if the weak points weren't obvious enough most of the time. I hardly ever used Navi for information. Tatl, however, I would consult just to see if she would say something entertaining.

Foremost is the chromatic substance accomplishment to Picklegod! Pickle contributes to all parts of the forum, stays astir, and mostly is awful to everyone he meets. A wonderful, intelligent somebody, Pickle testament now better us with every day NF decisions. Approval Picklgod!

i preferred Navi's attitude, but got annoyed by 'HEY' every five minutes, what killed it for me with Tatl is the end of Majora's Mask... i still don'tbelieve she said that

Am I the only person who never really got annoyed by Navi? The "HEY! LISTEN!" didn't really bother me. I didn't take any notice of it. I just ignored her and got on with the game. :/

I like Navi 'cause the nostalgia factor is huge BUT ...

I like Tatl more 'cause she had attitude, was part of the better (in my opinion) of the two N64 games (don't mistake me, I loved Ocarina, but I found Majora a lot more dark, dangerous, fun, and there was a lot more emphasis on putting yourself in the hero's boots), and really, can you mess if your brother's name is Tael. Tatl + Tael = Tattletale ... you don't mess with that.

BUT if I say I choose Tatl ... well then I supposedly don't have a brain.

Honestly, I don't think I could really choose one over the other. Both fairies played such a huge role in each of Link's adventures, each in their own way.

Navi was there when Link was taken from his childhood and thrust into becoming the hero everyone expected him to be. How difficult everything must have been for him during that adventure. Not only the dangers he faced, but the emotion of seeing his childhood world transformed into Ganondorf's wasteland in what seemed like an instant to him. Everyone else in Hyrule had the seven years to cope with the changes but Link didn't, and Navi was right there with him. Though she didn't form an opinion much, she was there to help whenever he needed it and provided Link with the moral support he must have needed. When she left in the end I felt such a sadness that I'm sure Link felt; the one partner who had been through every battle alongside him left. She was there when Link went from a boy to a hero, a transition that must have changed him for the rest of his life. Losing Navi ultimately brought him to Termina, where he met Tatl.

Tatl.. so much to say about her. She was brash, short tempered, and wasn't afraid to speak her mind about what bothered her; polar opposite of Navi. Her and Link's relationship began on a sour note, and they only joined forces because Tatl wanted to use him to get back to her original plans. I absolutely loved watching their partnership develop through the trials they faced. They started out as rivals but towards the end both ended up helping each other. Though Link was already experienced, so to speak, at being a hero, he was in a completely new place, the weight of the world still on his shoulders. Tatl was able to let go of her haughty attitude and admit that even she needed help once in a while. In the end, they both gained a friendship. Cheesy but true!

It's interesting, really. The more I think about it the more it seems that the personality of the fairies match the game. Navi was simple, straightforward, and got the job done. Tatl's character was complex, confusing, and very emotional. Both were important to Link and his journeys in their own way, and I loved them both.

All this talk makes me want to draw again :P

    Tatl all of the way.
In terms of character/personality, Tatl isn't supposed to be a nice person in any sense. She just wants to use Link to reunite with her brother. Navi on the other hand was just some pawn of the Deku tree that didn't really add anything to the story other than annoying the player every five minutes with "HEY! LISTEN!" or some pointless bit of information that the player already knew.

some times with navi they will be something you've already done like playing nocturne of shadow , and you leave the temple for a short while to stock up on supplies or get an item and she will scream it you " HEY ! HAVE YOU PLAYED THE NOCTURNE OF SHADOW THAT SHEIK TAUGHT YOU ? " while tatl assumes you have to get something .
Navi=fighting expert and a good eye
Tatl=stupid bitch :P who is impatient
Its not exactly hard to spot the brightly coloured weakspot , and bosses arent desgined to be straight forward .
navi would remind you of things you had worked out before the " HEY ! "
midna was the best companion , she might hint things and give you that sence of direction you need after completing a dungeon .
