F-Zero and StarFox; Where are they now?

Hey guys. The racing franchise F-Zero and the interplanetary space battle franchise StarFox have not yet made the transition from Gamecube to Wii as the other main franchises (Metroid, LoZ, Mario, etc) have. Why do you think this is? If Nintendo came out with games of this series for the Wii, would you mow down the front door to get them? Could it be that they are dying down in popularity?

    Please discuss. :D

Star Fox 64 is getting a 3DS remake, so I'm expecting the series to be picked back up assuming it sells well. The reason we haven't seen a Wii sequel is because Adventures, Assault and Command all got bad reception.

No idea what the hell happened to F Zero, though. It's easily my favorite Nintendo franchise, and the fact it's been shelved is really upsetting.

Yeah it looks like the perfect fast paced game that can bring Nintendo out of the platform and sports void.

As BonBon said, the later installments of Starfox weren't as popular as Lylat Wars (perhaps because of the on-foot levels?) As for F-Zero, Nintendo probably wanted to stick with one or two main racing games, and F-Zero was probably scrapped in favor of Mario Kart/Diddy Kong racing.

I'm glad new games are being made, though. The only interaction I had with F-Zero was SSBB's "Masterpiece" section, but I enjoyed all 30 seconds of it, and plan to buy the 3ds game as soon as I have the means to play it.

I didn't like the original F-Zero and I never played F-Zero X, but F-Zero GX was fucking mental. I loved it. Except the second Mute City track.

Im the same I never liked the original F-Zero, but I played F-Zero X alot and that game is still great fun.

F-Zero GX got slightly better reviews but! by the looks of things they both play the same, soo you would love/like the old one also. ^__^

(I really dont wanna know, how much the new one gives you headaches o_O)

    Away saving Yoshis.

I've never played an F-Zero game, but I am dying to see a Star Fox on the Wii. I think it would be awesome on the Wii, the Wiimote would work really well for controlling an Arwing, I think.
I'm looking forward to the Lylat Wars remake on the 3DS. I love that game.

ACPlayer5 - I'm sure he meant void as in "the majority of games on Nintendo consoles are platformers and sports games", though it's easy to think the opposite; he didn't mean that Nintendo is void of platformers (as all of those games are indeed, platformers), but that they are in a platformer void - most of the games they put out are platformers. Though, to be fair, void isn't the term I would've used. Hole is a lot easier to understand.

Not that I agree - Zelda, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Star Fox, F-Zero, and the recent Metroid titles were all non platformers. In fact, the only common platforming games Nintendo has are Donkey Kong, Kirby, and the main Mario series. Everything else is RPG/Racing/other.

You're right. It was a little foggy. :sweatdrop: But I would describe Zelda and Metroid as platformers, wouldn't you? Isn't a platformer where you explore this big world like in Galaxy? :silent:

Starfox is definitely regaining popularity, especially with the up and coming Lylat Wars remake. I also read somewhere about a rumor that Miyamoto wanted another Starfox, but another main person didn't really want to pick it up anymore, but someone else wanted to pick it up and make another one (I know, confusing).

As for F-Zero, the only hope i see is that he was a character in Brawl.
I hope the series doesn't die, but....

NSMB wii, smb1-3, donkey kong country, etc
