Hey, subplots are rare in platformers like that, you should give it more credit. Galaxy 1 also had more story than usual, but it was all subtle and explained through a children's storybook, so it leaves a lot to infer. Personally, I loved Super Mario Sunshine and thought the concept and FLUDD gameplay was fantastic and unique. |

Super Mario RPG is a game that would, quite literally, be little more than a generic RPG without it's story. Likewise, story plays possibly the largest part in the Mario & Luigi series and the Paper Mario Series. That being said, I'd say my favorite ending in a Mario game has to be the ending of Partners in Time. The entire story in that game is amazing; the writers are geniuses. I've never played a Mario game that had an ending that I disliked. I wasn't too fond of Super Mario 2's ending, but it wasn't bad. |

I love my Avatar, it was done by AoL.

You don't sound too sure there (: But I have to agree the actual game itself is a lot better than the ending. At they end of the day they're paid to make games, not write stories... |

Agreed. Though i enjoyed the ending to Bowser's Inside Story, mainly because of the epic ending boss fight. I also loved the original. 7 f**king castles and still no princess?!?!?! And in the end, Mario finally gets the girl. How touching. |

Just my opinion, but I thought Partners in Time's final boss was off-the-charts epic. Fighting that thing is probably one of my favorite video game moments, from one of my favorite video games <3 I wasn't thinking about PiT though, thanks for reminding me :o I agree about all you said Ice, the story and writing was amazing in that game. It's funny when you realize that Nintendo actually knows about Internet stuff, like leet-speak (lawl at leet Hammer Bros.). And that reminds me, Fort Francis and just about every bit of text in there on Super Paper Mario was a nod to the Internet - "My first love was an anime character. True/False" "I love going on message boards and complaining about games I've never played! True/False" Gotta love Nintendo :D Edited by Togeshroob, Aug 8 2010, 09:38 PM.

Best goes to SMB3- "The princess is in another castle...just kidding!". Worst is probably SMG 2- the whole storybook thing ruins it plus Bowser is a complete pushover. |

Partners in Time has one of the most epic moments in Mario history, IMO. Such incredible feel throughout, and that ending battle was just full of win. But I can't really think of a Mario ending I didn't like ... I do remember never finishing Sunshine. But that was just because I had to give it back ... I actually liked it a lot. |
