    Casual Bowser... oh, the horror!
I think voice acting would definitely be good for characters besides Link, and it would also be fine if it was for Link, because the game would probably have the option to play with text.

    He is left-handed, traditionally.

But the fact is that there are more people out there in real life who are right handed. Since this game uses 1:1 Wiimote-tracking sword motion, they are going all out with this concept, even to the point where they design enemies to be bested only in certain ways, like, you have to slice in certain spots, or in certain directions, etc., to defeat them.

Since right-handed people are in the majority, they designed the enemies and environments to fit a right-handed person, of course making Link right handed as a result. I'm sure lots of fanboys have got their panties in a wad over this, but it's a completely reasonable move for Nintendo to make.

Because, to cater to the left-handers out there as well, they would have to make an opposite version of everything. All the enemies will have to be flipped to fit a left-handed battler, and the environments would have to be as well. Thus, they would be making two games in one, which is unreasonable and unneccessary (think if the Gamecube and Wii versions of TP were stuffed into one game, were that possible). Miyamoto said that he hopes that left-handers will just play with their right hands.

I'm not sure exactly, but it'd probably obliterate disc space for the game to have two versions, anyway. I wouldn't think they could fit both in one game, at least not full and complete anyway. Even if I were a left-hander, I'd rather have a huge and complete Zelda game than a small game with an entire version on it that I won't use.

You can still swing the Wiimote with your opposite hand, it will just take a little while to get used to. I'm sure the game will address this, giving left-handed players some way in the beginning to get themselves used to using their right hands.

And think of it from the company's standpoint. Would you really want a small and incomplete Zelda game because it has an entire alternate version of it that you'll never use? Wouldn't you rather have a full and huge and complete Zelda game, and simply get used to using your right hand?

Alos, think of this! The nunchuck is used for controlling Link's shield. Know what that means? That means even right handed people will have to get used to using their left hand to move the shield! So either hand you use the sword for, you're going to have to use your opposite hand to use the shield, so it's not like left-handers are getting the shaft. We all are just going to have to get used to it.

I dunno about you, but I'm all for becoming ambidextrous (in a fun way, too) :> Also, I think this will be great for those of us who already know everything about how to play Zelda games. Like, when we start a new Zelda game, we already know how to kill enemies, we already know all the sword moves, etc. So, in this way, even experienced Zelda players will get a fresh and new experience with the gameplay.

To address your comment about fitting both versions of the game onto a single disc - yes, it's possible. Using TP as an example; Wii games are generally 4.7 gigs, in tact. (With the exception of dual layer games, like MP Trilogy and Brawl.) With the "trash" data removed (data added to simply up the size of the Wii game from whatever its initial size is to 4.7), games can get as small as 100 Mb. (I believe Challenge of the Warlords is 100 Mb's) Games that have the trash data removed are called "Scrubbed games."

New Super Mario Bros is a 4.7 gig game. When scrubbed, however, it is less than 300 Mb. When you think about it, that means they had over 3 gigs of space they could've used to make more game content. NSMBW was amazing as it is - imagine if it had a more fleshed out single player with more features, suits, etc?

Skip to Twilight Princess. If I recall correctly, the Wii version is about 2.4 gigs big, and the GC version is a little under 2 gigs. They COULD fit both versions onto 1 disc. (The added motion support might buffer the disc to over 4.7, but they could always use a Dual layer disc.)

Look at Metroid Prime trilogy. There's THREE games on one disc, with the multiplayer still intact for the second game, the online features present for the third game, motion support for both the first and the second game, AND improvements in both visual and sound for all 3 games. With all of that information, you'd think you'd need multiple discs, right? Nope. The game itself is less than 7 gigs, far less than the full amount of a dual layer disc.

I don't think they'd need to make a full game to cater to left handed people (as opposed to making a rather large script that'd flip everything), but even if they did, they most certainly can, and it'd fit on one disc. They just don't need too - it's not that hard to play with your other hand - you just need to get used to it, nor do they want to. It'd be a waste of money.

Ah, I figured there was something that I didn't know about there. Thanks for clearing that up, Ice, of course I didn't know about how all that worked :<

I'm right handed, but even if the game had Link left handed, I think I could deal with it. Actually, everyone opposite hand is jus as good as their normal hand in every catergory but one: accuracy. So it actually would not be that hard for left handers. Think of it this way: right now you're typing with both of your hands, and it's not that difficult. As a child, it probably was hard in the beginning, but the opposite hand probably got used to it rather quickly. I think it will be the same for Skyward Sword.

You fans want voice acting huh? Screw off! You all know how much that failed in Super Mario Sunshine. You complain about EVERY aspect of the game before it's even out. NSMBWii was targeted badly because Yoshi wasn't in as much as people wanted, well he's in the bloody game! It's better than him not making an appearance at all!
Just play the game and enjoy what it is instead of judging it before they release it. That's what bugs me, you seem to know what the game is going to be like before it's out! It's like predicting the villain of the next Scooby-Doo film before IMDB release the characters/actors1

On this thread we will be talking about the new Zelda game for Wii, Skyward Sword, coming out sometime in 2011. Hear you can post new features just found out, or preview the game. As we slowly approach the release date, I will be posting features just announced.

To start thing off, as everyone knows, it has motionplus, and almost everyone that played it at E3 thought it had the best controls for a Wii game ever. The game is a mixture of cel-shading and realism, with the enemies looking threatning, but also artful.

Also, it has just been anounced that Skyward Sword is taking place before Ocarina of Time. How could this effect the story? Well, it means there is a possibility of young Link being in the game.

Much remains to be announced, so continue to look at this thread. Enjoy!

So that's why when I watched the trailer I had an OoT feeling.

Cel-shading is the type of graphics that use lighting effects more than normal. It is used mostly in non-serious games - I hope this is an exception.

I'm happy that Nintendo changed the game's style of graphics. It's unique, but the characters are still recognizable.
I'm pretty sure cell shading was also used in Wind Waker...correct me if I'm wrong :)

And I might get some hate for this...but I was actually hoping for a zelda style game like the Wind Waker...with more cartoon-ish effects...that was my favorite game of all time and I loved the simple, cartoon-ish effects and characters in the game...Twilight Princess was awesome...but it was a more serious game :) which wasn't bad...but I would prefer a Wind Waker style game....anyone else have the same mentality as me?

Yep it's cool my favorite of all time is still Wind waker and I once saw in a game magazine that the original concept art for Twilight Princess was Wind. Waker style.

Whoo, a fellow fanhate hater has arrived! Yay for Tenabla :>

Also, Ice, I meant to ask earlier, but where do you find out information like that about how much space different games take up, without the trash stuff and all? That'd be interesting to look into.

Nothing beats the voice clips from Yeto in Twilight Princess.
