Personally, I find very few LoZ and Metroid tracks memorable. The few that are memorable are FANTASTIC, though.

Out of all the series, Mario, Pokemon, and F-Zero have the most memorable songs (but almost no one has played F-Zero).

    Zelda :p

I can hum most of the ocarina songs out by heart and name them, and the milk bar theme is still one of my favorite songs, ever.

But overall, definitely Mario. SMG/SMG2 has the best video game sound track I've ever heard, and it's all orchestrated. Fantastic.

If Skywards Sword really has orchestrated music (which it probably does), it'll be a godsend.

Ah, the Smash Brother's Brawl theme. I love it! I wanted to take Latin in college, so I could compose chorale pieces like that, but music already has a hefty schedule, so I couldn't.

But, I would have to say the Mother series, especially Mother because for an 8-bit game, the music is great. The main focus of those games seem to be the story and the music, and making those two intertwine and create a memorable game. Earthbound/Mother 2 didn't do that as well, as I had hoped, but Mother and Mother 3 did it beautifully.

I get what you're saying. I believe it was said before, that the music in Mother just goes so well with the mood at hand, for example if the situation is dire, saddening, then the music is in perfect coherence with it. You will feel sad listening to that song.

The reason Mother 2 'didn't do it as well' is because it took a different approach to telling the story than the other two. Instead of a running plot with events and such like Mother and Mother 3, its story was told in a more non-cohesive way, through random and thought provoking pieces of text and places you visit.

At first glance it seems like it's just all non-cohesive randomness, but a lot of it is actually telling a deeper story than what it appears. This becomes evident towards the last few areas of the game, I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't played it, but those who have played it know what I'm talking about. It's a really thought provoking game...

And maybe it's just because I haven't played Mother or Mother 3, but I thought the music in EarthBound was really great. It probably isn't as emotionally stimulating, but it still has some great tunes, like Onett, Twoson, Fourside, Sky Runner, Eight Melodies, etc.

Anyhow, Layton 3 just came out yesterday. I can't wait to get it and see what delicious songs it has in store :>

Shroob~ Earthbound did have good music, I won't lie about that, but I just didn't feel that the music was tied in that importantly. But, if you enjoyed Earthbound, you should try to play the other two, for they are incredible.

Playing EarthBound first made me desperately want to play the other two (Mother to understand Giygas, Mother 3 to advance the story with Pokey), I'll admit.

But I still believe that there will be a Mother 3 port, actually a Mother series compilation port, and I have reason to believe it. So I'm holding out for a little while longer :p

Agree with BonBon. Mother 3 is the best of them IMO. Just an awesome game.

With my own personally bias, I find FE's musical scores to be both interesting and inspiring. There are many themes from the FE world that I hold near and dear to my heart, playing the tunes over and over in my head.

Even without my bias, I still find that to be true. But, other than FE, I've always enjoyed the feel Legend of Zelda creates in it's games with music. A level of greatness in Zelda games are held within their music. Zelda music has a high amount of beauty and nostalgia that creates in interesting feel.

That's why I love Brawl so much. I can't get enough of Dialga/ Palkia at Spear Pillar. Metriod music is good, too.

Animal Crossing has some of my favorite. My good friend had done a cover on the piano of the music played during 10 p.m.

My favorite Nintendo music has to be always from the Zelda series.
    By far the best overall.
I also like Mario and Kirby's soundtracks, even Metroid metal songs are pretty cool :)
