That works better. Heck, if this game were to actually happen, might as well try actually ridding Epona. It'd be a super secret cart, though ... |

Fine, can't argue against that.
Yeah, but think about it- novelty would take over for a while, and experimenting with Landmasters and Eponas racing through Bowser's Castle would be unreal. But then what? An item as you described there (Link's sword) sounds very similar to a Chain Chomp or Bullet Bill. It would be interesting, but all this idea is a total overhaul in characters and graphics. It doesn't really bring anything else to the table. |

It'd also bring all new music, stages, and ... well, that's all I can think of right now. But still, that's a lot of overhaulin'. I'd be happy if this was just a mini-game in the next SSB. It'd be an interesting diversion. EDIT: OHMYGOSHNOPOST666!!!!!!!1!!!11!!!!11!!!!!!!111!1!1!1!11 Edited by Angel of Light, Aug 31 2010, 02:02 PM.

Guys, it's definitely possible. Link doesn't need to ride Epona, but simply a Zelda themed vehicle. Spirit Tracks Train, anyone? Diddy used to ride a train in Mario Kart Double Dash, so it's definitely possible.
That's what ALL Mario Karts are. (And sequels in general.) Graphical overhauls with new stages, items, characters, and mechanics. That's what this would be. New stages, items, characters, and mechanics. The difference? It would in-cooperate characters from other series. They did it with Pac Man - they can do it with Nintendo IPs. In fact, I'm sure it would sell WAY more if it included more material from other games. As for looking at you characters - everyone does it. What would be the point of using different characters if no one did? They could've just stuck to using all gray blobs if that was the case. Your characters are in open Karts, so they're easy to see all the time. Maybe if it was something like F-Zero were you don't actually see the racer, but it's not. My biggest opposition to the idea is the fact that this game is still Mario kart. If Nintendo wants to make "Nintendo Racing" that uses all of Mario Kart's mechanics, that's cool with me. But for the name of Mario kart, stick with Mario racers. I wouldn't mind more Nintendo related vehicles and cameos, though. Seeing the Blue Falcon was bad ass. Doesn't Mario Kart Wii already have a mini-game? The Battle Mode. |

Sure, it would make TONS of money, guaranteed. And that would be the ultimate "success" of the idea. I understand that, but honestly, featuring characters from other Nintendo universes in Mario Kart would be just that, a money grab. You said it yourself, the biggest problem is that it's called Mario Kart.
True, but the idea of incorporating racers from other Nintendo IPs doesn't justify a sequel, especially looking at past Mario Kart improvements, such as double kart riders, tricks, etc. If they could implement a system where Fox's Arwing could "do a barrel roll", and have that as a important feature in the game, fine. All I'm trying to say is that the idea of just squishing other Nintendo characters into the next Mario Kart won't make it the next Super Smash Bros. Anyways, my argument is void as people would pay any price to see this idea in action. |

Oh, no one's saying "take Mario Kart Wii, add Link and samus = PROFIT" !!! (even though that would most certainly work.) We're saying along with the new mechanics, add Nintendo properties to the racing world, and by the looks of the screenshots for Mario Kart 3DS, they're doing just that. Wuhu island is a course in the new Mario Kart, which is awesome. |

Still, I feel that if they go as far to add actual characters in, Mario Kart wouldn't be a proper name. (As you mentioned before.) Cameos, tracks, music, etc. are fine, great by all means. But it just wouldn't feel right you know? |

You have to wonder if Nintendo would even do something like that, though. It'd undoubtedly take revenue away from the main series. I don't think they'd like that very much =\ |

Nah, I doubt that Nintendo would create a game like that, let alone think of it. I think they're happy with Mario Kart, and the amount of income they have gained and will gain is pretty high. |

Well, lets get back on track with new ideas for their main series, then. What about flying stages? Diddy Kong did it ... why not Mario? |
