Should Nintendo make a MMORPG?; Note: if the mods want to delete either this topic or my other topic about the Pokemon MMORPG, please delete the Pokemon one.

    Casual Bowser... oh, the horror!
I think this is a great idea. Nintendo could make an online world with ranks similar to those on this website. You could battle other players to win tokens, with which you could buy stuff. You could take on missions, possibly cooperatively, to earn certain weapons and abilities, including the Master Sword or a Fire Flower. There would be voicechat, and you could earn DLC if you own the actual Nintendo games (which makes Nintendo money). The possibilities are endless!

I think an allworld mmo with mario, donkey kong, and all the other series together wouldn't be as nice as either the Pokemon MMO, or a single series MMO

Nintendo does not have the online power or experience to create an MMO. At all.
Before they start thinking about entering that territory, they need better service and to abolish the Friend Code system.

How the bloody hell would a Zelda or Metroid MMO work?
If they intended to make one, either base it off Pokemon or make it an entirely new franchise.

    Easily.

Zelda has at least 5 or 6 well thawed out races. Make each race selectable, add 10 classes to each race, and BOOM, MMO made. Actually, an MMO based around the war that occurred during the time Link was in stasis would be bad ass.

Metroid takes place in space. You work either for the Space Pirates, the GF, or another affiliation (or solo.) Similar to how the Star Wars MMO is. Go on bounties, kill peeps, bring back goodies, do quests, etc.

I'd like a Pokemon MMO, but Zelda has an amazing potential. They have everything there - they'd just need to mold some of it. And have the 3DS support MMO.

MMO for Nintendo?...Lulz. If anything a spin off from Fire Emblem or Golden Sun might work. Although I refuse to believe an MMO will work properly on anything but PC.

    Unless I am shown proof.

Actually....I think a 3DS MMO would be amazing. I've yet to see a fully threshed out hand held MMO, but if they could do it, then it would kick ass. Hell, on any hand held - PSP/2, 3DS, Cellphone, etc...

    Facebook is the ultimate MMO.

The 3DS online would need to be better than Live for that to work well.
I have a hard time believing that to even be plausible.

I've never liked pokemon especially so i can't say i would dig that as an online game, having Zelda game online would be a bad idea to me, but if there will be some kind of MMORPG than that could be interesting, it probably had to be unique though.
Isn't Monster Hunter an online game?

Nintendo's online service has grown exponentially over the years. Games like Mario Strikers and Brawl are barely playable online. More recent games like Monster Hunter Tri, however, rival both the PS3 and the 360's online service when comparing connection and drop rates - it's quite impressive. Same goes for the DS - most games outside of Mario Kart DS have excellent online - Custom Robo, Animal Crossing and Clubhouse games are all examples of older games that have fantastic online play.

Nintendo's biggest hurdle is delivery - the friend code system is understandable, but it's just not as fluid as add and drop. I think Nintendo realizes this, and in order for the 3DS to be able to pierce the online area, they need to fix this. Their actual service should be upgraded, but it's far from awful - most games are very enjoyable, fast, and lag isn't present. (Obviously this all depends on your personal connection, but from what I've seen, games with independent servers (EA games) run just as the 360/PS3 copies do, and recent games from everyone else are very fluid.) Saying their online play is laughable without actually playing any of their recent games is simply ignorance.
