Not necessarily - Mario is obviously more well known (overall) than Link, but on a personal level Link has had much more of an impact on me than Mario has. But speaking of Link, yes, I'm going to have to list him as my most memorable character :>

I thought I already posted something like this, but didn't apparently. Link is to gamers as Mario is to the general public. My analogy.

I think the topic has shifted a little, it has went form most memorable to most well known =\
Aren't the most well known also the most memorable?
The most well known is regarding the public, but the most memorable is generally your personal favorite.

Mario. Everyone knows him. When I was like, 4, and I saw Mario in SMB3, even the 4 year old me thought...

    "Haven't I seen him before?"

    Seriously.
