You know what? You are right. Almost everyone will have a 3DS, so it may not even be worth making a DS version. |

The entire DS franchise has not yet had a really good fighting game, but Smash Bros. DS could fill this spot.

(If you forget to include something in your first post, use the edit button to do so. Please, don't double post.) I think most people didn't want a DS version simply because they felt that the system couldn't do the franchise justice because of it's low processing power and visual standing. (and control input, too) However, with the new 3DS, most of those problems are addressed - there is a faster, stronger processor for increased performance (in all matters, including it's visuals), an analog input, and a larger screen. If Nintendo is going to make a portable Smash Bros game this generation, it'll be on the 3DS, not the DS. |

When I said Super Smash Bros. DS, that also includes the 3DS. |

I think it would end up like Mario Kart, where the portable version ends up being the best one (MKDS). The multiplayer would be great, and if they can fix the Wi-Fi multiplayer, I'd be overjoyed. Would it be a port or whole new game? |

I would like it to be a new game with concepts from old games, like stage building and and trophy/sticker collecting. However, I would also like there to be a new, more understandable storyline for story mode, new characters, and new stages. |

I would love that and would probably end up playing the DS version more than the Wii or GC one. Here is some fan artwork I found:

Actually its not important at all, its just a silly thought that you have created that you think will actually happen. Super Smash Brothers on the DS? Highly unlikely, the DS is in its dying years, and will become just like the GBA, nowhere to be found. Super Smash Brothers on the 3DS? Unlikely, but likelier than being on a DS. If they put the game on the 3DS a year after it's released, then it would give curious buyers into having a reason to buy the 3DS. Why a year later? Well it's because if you put a game so great in the early years, the hype will die out. |

I can't imagine it working as well on the DS/DSi/3DS. It would be awkward trying to pull off all the different moves. There just isn't enough buttons on those handhelds. ![]() Keep it for the consoles, I think. |

There are more buttons and input methods on the 3DS than on the Wii Remote alone, which was used for Brawl. Wii Remote - A, B, 1, 2, Plus, and Minus. (Home doesn't count) 3DS - A,B,Y,X L, R, and virtually any amount on the touch screen. (Start, Select, Volume, and 3D Slider doesn't count.) Plus, the 3DS has 3 methods of direct input as opposed to the Wii Remotes 1 - Slide Pad, D-Pad, and touch screen. In fact, were it for the 3DS, I'd imagine that it wold play better than it would on the current console versions - you have all of your needed buttons in a comfortable setting with no repeats, like the GC remote has. You Only need dedicated buttons for Special moves, Shielding, and Standard moves. Jumping can be assigned to D-Up as always. And, they could include the ability to assign custom controls. A = A attacks B = Special moves X= Throw Y = Shield L/R = Roll, together for a throw Final Smash = Touch Screen. Health and player information could be displayed there as well. The only thing stopping the DS from having a version is it's low specs and lack of an analog input - with the 3DS, those things are taken care of. I mean, think about it - how many buttons does the GC Have? 3DS A B Y X L R | D-Pad, Analog Stick Gamecube A B Y X Z L R | D-Pad, Analog Stick Z Grabs. Y and X Both Jump - they could easily assign either X or Y to grab instead. And, that's about it. Edited by IceCatraz, Jul 6 2010, 11:58 AM.
